Lugang old street is known as "invisible Street". Because Lugang is close to the sea, it is windy and Sandy. In order to prevent the invasion of windy sand, the residents of Lugang built roofs on the streets, so the pedestrians can't see the sky when they look up, so it gets its name. In ancient times, Lugang was a prosperous commercial port with many sails and vigorous shipping. This street once flourished, but now it has become a unique landscape.

History of old street
"Gushi Street" is the earliest block in Lukang and the first settlement preservation case in Taiwan. In the past, it used to be a gathering place for boatman, with the characteristics of wooden structure, common wall, length and depth, and the integration of living and business. In 1978, the people of Lukang realized the importance of historical and historic preservation, and formed the "Association for the preservation of cultural relics and local development promotion of Lukang". Later, under the leadership of the Department of civil affairs of the provincial government, they carried out the restoration investigation. In 1986, they established the "conservation area of historic relics of Lukang" through the change of urban planning, and began the preservation work mainly focusing on Yaolin street and Putou street. What we see today is the face after renovation.
"Five Fu Street" connects north to Zazi street and vegetable market street, and south to Lukang street. It is called "main street". It is a commercial center in Jiaqing City, and it also has functions of Commerce, residence, workshop and warehouse. During Japanese occupation, it was once called "the first city Street in Taiwan" and "the only pure type typical street * *" in the island. In 1933-1934 (Showa 8-9), the Governor General's office of Taiwan carried out urban correction. The buildings on both sides were demolished about 7 meters in depth, and the second floor was built with a foreign style facade. Influenced by the modern Japanese realistic style, the style was relatively plain. Among them, "yuzhenzhai", "yuanchangxing" and "shiyilou" have been listed as historical buildings.
