brief introduction
Located in the north of Xidajie Road, Yancheng District, Luohe City, the Biancheng temple is the earliest and largest building complex in the old city. There is no written record of when it was built. But at least in the early Tang Dynasty, the temple was a famous Buddhist holy land in China. Although there were several wars in the past dynasties, some eminent monks and local gentlemen continued to repair and expand. It is said that during the period of Taiping and Xingguo in the Northern Song Dynasty, master Qizong of Weishi County in Tokyo visited Yancheng and saw that the other side temple was in a state of dilapidation and was rebuilt with money. During the period of Qianlong in the Qing Dynasty, it still occupied more than 200 mu and had nearly 1000 houses. After thousands of years of incense, the other side temple of Yancheng is famous all over the world. It is a place that scholars often visit. Celebrities such as Han Yu, Du Fu, Liu Changqing and Gongsun Aung in Tang Dynasty, Su Zhe and Su Shi in Song Dynasty and Yuan Haowen in Yuan Dynasty all left footprints in pi'an temple.
history
Pi'an temple is a famous temple in the sea since the Tang Dynasty. It is located in Xiguan, Yancheng County, Luohe City. It is said that during the period of Taiping and Xingguo in the Northern Song Dynasty, master Qizong of Weishi County in Tokyo visited Yancheng and saw that the other side temple was dilapidated and had to be rebuilt with money. By the time of Qianlong in the Qing Dynasty, it still occupied more than 200 mu and had nearly 1000 houses. Su Shi, a great scholar of the Song Dynasty, once wrote a poem praising his great antiquity. This tree should be called Zixing, and its mountain can only be used as a branch. " In 717 A.D., the fifth year of Kaiyuan in Tang Dynasty, Du Fu, a great poet, once watched Gongsun Aung, a well-known national dancer, dance in pi'an temple. Later, he wrote a poem "watching Gongsun's disciples dance Swords", which describes the scene at that time in detail. Du Fu's poem was accepted by later generations in three hundred Tang poems, which has been widely read for thousands of years. In 807 A.D., in the second year of Yuanhe in the Tang Dynasty, Han Yu, a great literary scholar, came to pi'an temple and joined up with his friend Li Zhengfeng. He wrote more than 1000 poems and engraved them on the west wall of pi'an temple. Their poems were recorded in Yancheng county annals published in 1934. In the Song Dynasty, Su Zi, a great scholar, wrote two poems about the verdant cypress in the temple. By the Qing Dynasty, its scale and architecture were quite complete. In modern times, the war in the Central Plains continued, and the people were in dire straits. With the decline of the country, Biancheng Bianan Temple gradually declined, and was later turned into a school. Due to the disrepair of the old buildings and natural and man-made disasters, only one stone Scripture block in the Northern Song Dynasty remains, which is a national key cultural relic protection unit.
Buddhist stone pillar
It is now located in Yancheng experimental middle school in Henan Province. It was once the site of the Biancheng temple, an ancient temple. Because it is similar to an ancient pagoda in shape, with a dragon column carved under it, and a simple and neat small seal inscription carved on the writing tablet, it is also commonly known as "the ancient seal of the Dragon pagoda" by the local people. Jingchuang was built during the Taiping Xingguo period (976-984) of the Northern Song Dynasty to record the process of rebuilding the Buddhist Hall of the pi'an temple at that time. Also because of the stone chassis as perfume pool, it is also known as perfume sea stone block. The stone building is 14.1 meters high and consists of five parts: chassis, waist platform base, seal inscription stele, statue stele and top of the tower. The chassis carving is mainly based on Buddhist stories, and the base has the meaning of Xumi mountain, with four heavenly kings and eight heavenly dragons carved on it. The seal inscription stele is a whole. On the rectangular tower stone of moling, it is engraved with the inscription of "rebuilding the Bi'An temple in Yancheng County, Xuzhou". This book is also called the top-quality one. The seal inscription on the stele is no longer available. It is sharp and vigorous, and records the rise and fall of Bi'An temple and the creation of Scripture buildings. The statue stele is octagonal in shape, on which Buddhist statues and stories are carved.
layout
Pi'an temple, located in the west of Gaosi village, 35 kilometers north of Wuyang County, Henan Province, was founded in Yuan Dynasty. Later, due to repeated natural and man-made destruction, many of the buildings in the temple were destroyed, and only the temple of heavenly king and the temple of middle Buddha are on the central axis. The Tianwang hall is three rooms wide and has a grey tile roof of hanging mountain type. The central Buddha Hall is three rooms wide and three rooms deep. It has a single eaves and a grey tile roof. It is built on a high platform. It is a typical architecture of Yuan Dynasty, with sparse Dougong and zhenang, hump on the back, octagonal Shu column and batajiao room. The column has obvious rise and side foot. The arch is made of sufficient material, with hidden arched eyes. The beam frame is made of straw and natural bending material, and the method of reducing column is used. There is a stone inscription on the east side of the front wall of the hall, which says, "Chijian, Zhizheng, the second year of his life. On October 15, Li Jiao, benefactor, and Han Li are dedicated. Monk Guangxi, the abbot of the Bi'An temple, paid attention to the establishment of the temple. This is an important material for the study of pi'an temple. In November 1986, Henan provincial cultural relics protection units were announced.
