Taiheyan archway is located in beixinwu village, 20km northeast of Jiexiu City, Shanxi Province. It was built in 1897. Three doors, four pillars, three floors and a single eaves. The foundation of the four pillars is made of stone carvings. The upper square pillars, couplets, plaques, brackets, rafters, tile roofs, ridge ornaments and ridge brakes are all inlaid with glass art components. The glaze color is mainly yellow, green and blue, and sometimes white, purple, black and crimson.
The main building has five steps in one jump, and the secondary building has three steps in one jump. There are glass plaques in the brackets of the main building and the second building. Under the eaves of the main building, there is a signboard, which reads "taiheyan" on the top, "wushangdao" and "Zhongmiao gate" on the south side of the second building, and "chuusu barrier" and "qizhenyuan" on the north side. There are flowers and plants carved in the arched wall, and wooden rafters are set on the glass eaves purlin, all of which are decorated with glass.
Its roof with yellow and blue glazed tile, in the main building above spell "back" word pattern. Although there is no group relationship in the history of architecture, its shape is very perfect, especially its glass products, no matter from its shape and glaze color, can be called the masterpiece of glass art. According to the stele records, Jiexiu used glass on the building roof as early as the Tang Dynasty. By the Ming and Qing Dynasties, glass had reached the state of perfection in both firing technology and plastic arts.
