Beimiao lake is a pearl on the southwest plateau. It is located near Beimiao village, baoshanba, Baoshan City, Yunnan Province, 20 kilometers away from Baoshan City. It was built in 1958 and initially completed in 1962.

The highest altitude of beimiaohu district is 1912.1 meters, the lowest altitude is 1705 meters, the average temperature is 15.7 ℃, the annual precipitation is 1067.2 mm, the river source above the dam site is 15 kilometers long, the controlled runoff area is 119 square kilometers, and the annual average runoff is 68 million cubic meters. The total storage capacity is 73.5 million cubic meters. The clay core dam is the main building of Beimiao lake, with a height of 73 meters and a crest length of 280 meters. There are 569 stone steps on the dam. The total area of Beimiao lake is 6 square kilometers, including 2.8 square kilometers of water surface and 3.2 square kilometers of forest surface. Beimiao lake is mainly irrigated, and has comprehensive benefits of flood control, power generation, aquaculture, tourism, etc. at present, the irrigated area is 140000 mu, the cultivated land for flood control protection is 50000 mu, the drainage area is 20000 mu, and the annual power generation is about 500-700 kwh.

Beimiao lake is an attractive scenic spot in Baoshan. When you climb the dam, you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of the lake and mountain, and the vast waves. Looking back, you can see the vast Baoshan dam. Around the lake, Yunnan pine, Simao Pine and Guosong are widely planted. There are tea gardens, vineyards, orchards and flower gardens. There are nearly 100 varieties of flowers, such as camellia, azalea, orchid, rose and lotus. Under the reservoir, there are a large number of weeping willows, artificial lakes, beaches and tourist pools. On the lake, there are speedboats and pleasure boats. Beside the dam, there are snacks, singing and dancing, cultural entertainment and other services It's a big place for leisure, sightseeing and recreation.
