In the northeast corner of the spring pool, there is a monument of "shuangzhong spring" inscribed by contemporary calligraphers. Shuangzhong spring was recorded in Licheng county annals by Qianlong of Qing Dynasty, and was included in 72 springs by Hao Zhigong of Qing Dynasty. It is one of the 72 Famous Springs in Jinan.
Two loyal heroes reflect the famous spring
The names of shuangzhong spring and ancestral temple all come from the commemoration of song Xuezhu, governor of Shandong Province, and Han Chengxuan, county magistrate of Licheng, who died in Jinan in the late Ming Dynasty due to the anti Qing war. In the 12th year of Chongzhen (1639) of the Ming Dynasty, Qing soldiers entered the pass, bypassed Beijing and took Jinan directly. In December of the 11th year of Chongzhen (1638) of the Ming Dynasty, Qing troops came to Jinan, and 100000 Qing military artillery and cloud ladders stormed the city. Song Xuezhu, the governor of Shandong Province, and Han Chengxuan, the magistrate of Licheng County, led more than a thousand defenders and people to fight to death, destroying tens of thousands of soldiers of the Qing army. But in the end, because of being outnumbered and helpless, Jinan City was captured on the second day of the first month of the second year after nine days and nights. Song Xuezhu died in the battle on the upper floor of the city, and Han Chengxuan died with other officials. Afterwards, in memory of song and Han, the two loyal and unyielding national heroes, shuangzhong temple was built.
How many ups and downs
In the 45th year of the reign of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty (1706), villagers dug a spring from the ground when they rebuilt the collapsed shuangzhong temple. The spring water is clear, clean, sweet and flowing, so it is named "shuangzhong spring" after the temple. Zhao Shenji, the inspector of Shandong Province, wrote shuangzhong Quan Ji, which was written by the spring.
Shuangzhong temple was later abandoned and became a folk house. During the period of the Republic of China, the stone tablet of shuangzhong Quan Ji was still embedded on the wall of the east mountain of Nanwu in the courtyard
Zhongquan. Before liberation, when building houses and demolishing walls, the steles were pushed down and laid on the ground, then damaged, and the springs were buried. In June 2000, Jinan Mingquan protection and management office carried out a rescue repair to shuangzhong spring, demolished the houses and restored the spring pool, so that it could be seen again. In the northeast corner of the spring pool, a monument named "shuangzhong spring" written by contemporary calligraphers was placed.
On April 2, 2005, shuangzhong spring was selected and ranked the 24th among the 72 new springs in Jinan during the five-and-a-half-year evaluation.
Now shuangzhong temple is gone, but shuangzhong spring is still there, and the continuous spring is reminiscent of the spirit of the past.
