Xianyang Confucian Temple
Xianyang Confucian temple is located in Zhongshan street of Xianyang City in Ming and Qing Dynasties. Now it is Xianyang Museum, which is a well preserved ancient architectural complex of Ming and Qing Dynasties in Xianyang city.
Confucian temple information
The Confucian temple was first built in the fourth year of Hongwu in Ming Dynasty. According to the new Annals of Xianyang County by Wanli in Ming Dynasty, "in the fourth year of Hongwu in Ming Dynasty (1371), the county governor Kong Wenyu presided over the construction." After several renovations in the third year of the reign of emperor qiangshun, the 43rd year of the reign of Emperor Wanli, the 20th year of Emperor Kangxi, the 20th year of emperor Jiaqing, the 5th year of emperor Tongzhi and the 14th year of Emperor Guangxu, there are 12 existing ancient buildings, covering an area of 12.78 mu. It was opened as Xianyang Museum in 1962. In 2003, it was announced as a key cultural relics protection unit in Shaanxi Province

Architectural changes
According to Xianyang county annals, the walls of the Confucian temple are 70 feet long, covering an area of 3364 square meters. From south to north, the layout of houses in the wall is dachengmen, with left and right gates, Jinsheng gate on the left and Yuzhen gate on the right; Lingxing gate, with left and right squares, with left square writing "virtue matches heaven and earth" and right square writing "Tao passes through ancient and modern times"; halberd gate, with companion pool in front of the gate, with Minghuan temple in the East and Xiangxian temple in the West; halberd gate, with East and West veranda in the north, with Dacheng hall in the north. Outside the palace walls, there are dachengfang in the south, Wenchang Pavilion and Chongsheng Temple in the East, Minglun hall and Zunjing Pavilion in the north, and teaching and Instruction Department and Discipline Department in the West. Among them, Liu Fayu was demolished by Xianyang magistrate in 1943, and the Town God's Temple memorial archway was demolished. Town God's Temple memorial archway is now the gate of the Xianyang Museum. It is a wooden bucket arch structure with fine wood carving and strict structure. Four red painted wooden columns support the large roof covered with glazed tiles, and the shape is solemn and deep.
The first hall, the third hall, the small archway and the main hall of pianyuan are the original Xianyang King's temple in 1371, which was moved to this site in 1963.
Most of the existing buildings are Ming Dynasty buildings, which face north and south. The plane is curved. There are four courtyards, with a total area of 8531 square meters and a building area of 2212 square meters. The existing ancient buildings include archway, first Hall (at the original halberd gate), two eastern and Western verandas, Dacheng Hall (second Hall), third Hall (at the original Minglun Hall), small archway and main hall of pianyuan. In front of the gate is a pair of Qing Dynasty stone lions, in the courtyard is a pair of Ming Dynasty stone lions, and in the Qing Dynasty there are two stone tablets related to Confucian temple. The structure of the complex is rigorous and spectacular.

From south to north, there are wooden archways, front hall, middle hall and back hall, with East and West verandas on both sides.
1、 The front hall is five rooms wide and three rooms deep. It rests on the top of the mountain. It has ridge ornaments and three step arches under the eaves. Now it is Qin Xianyang historical relics exhibition hall;
2、 The central hall, namely Dacheng hall, has five rooms wide and three rooms deep. It rests on the top of the mountain. There are stigma section, horn section and flat body section arch. Now it is the exhibition hall of fine cultural relics;
3、 The back hall is five rooms wide and three rooms deep. It has a hard top. The front and back eaves are built with three step arches. Now it is the exhibition hall of religious relics;
4、 The East and West veranda are now temporary exhibition hall and exhibition room No. 56.
