Historical evolution
The predecessor of Anhui Geological Museum is Anhui Geological and Mineral Museum.
In May 1986, Anhui Geology and mineral resources exhibition hall was prepared to be built, which belongs to Anhui Institute of Geological Sciences under Anhui Bureau of Geology and mineral resources.
In September 1987, Anhui Provincial Museum of Geology and mineral resources was renamed Anhui Provincial Museum of geology.
In 1997, the Geological Museum of Anhui Province was assigned to Anhui Geological Experimental Research Institute, a subordinate unit of Anhui Bureau of Geology and mineral resources.
On February 26, 2004, with the approval of the office of Anhui provincial organization committee and the reply of Anhui provincial organization committee, it was agreed to establish Anhui paleontological fossil Museum on the basis of Anhui Provincial Geological Museum, which originally belonged to Anhui Provincial Geological Experimental Research Institute. At the same time, Anhui Provincial Institute of paleontological fossil science and Anhui Provincial Geological Museum were put up, which are directly under the Department of land and resources of Anhui Province government-affiliated institutions.
On April 1, 2008, the construction of Anhui Geological Museum (Anhui paleontological fossil Museum) was officially started. The new construction of Anhui Geological Museum has been highly valued and supported by Anhui provincial Party committee and government, and has been listed in the "Eleventh Five Year" development plan of Anhui Province and the "861" action plan of Anhui Province.
In 2012, the name of Anhui paleontological fossil museum was changed to Anhui Geological Museum, and Anhui Institute of paleontological fossil science and Anhui paleontological fossil museum were added. On October 10, the new Anhui Provincial Geological Museum officially opened and opened to the public free of charge.
On July 19, 2013, the library was temporarily closed for rectification and improvement.
On November 2, 2014, the museum was reopened and opened to the public free of charge.

overview
The permanent sequence hall, earth hall, life evolution hall, dinosaur hall, resources and environment hall, mineral and Rock Hall of Anhui Provincial Geological Museum are equipped with 4D popular science cinema, atrium rest area, multi-functional academic lecture hall, temporary exhibition hall and outdoor landscape area. With specimens, pictures, characters and scenes, combined with modern scientific and technological means, the museum systematically displays the earth's structure, sea land changes and fossil mysteries, Biological evolution, rocks and minerals, etc.
Lobby
The preface hall is located at the entrance of the East first floor of the south building, with an area of 480 square meters and a floor height of 6.6 meters. This area is a place where all kinds of visitors are concentrated and scattered. In the middle of the entrance to the hall is a natural crystal ball with a diameter of 1.61 meters and a weight of 5.7 tons. On the right side is the white marble relief wall, which depicts the evolution of life on earth; on the left side is the service desk, which provides consulting and guidance services.
Earth Hall
The exhibition hall is located on the East first floor of the north building, covering an area of about 1000 square meters. The height of the first half of the hall is 10 meters, and the height of the second half is 2.6 meters (including the rest area on the second floor). With the theme of "earth the cradle of life", the earth hall highlights the formation, structure and evolution of the earth, and further reveals the relationship between the earth and the origin and evolution of life in the process of formation and development. In the hall, a curved led earth (up to 4 meters in diameter) is used to dynamically introduce the evolution history of the earth, and the exhibition boards are used to explain the evolution history of the earth. The second part mainly uses modern scientific and technological means to simulate the internal and external dynamic effects of the earth, such as volcanic eruption, weathering movement and iceberg movement in the form of scenes, and mainly introduces the orogeny of Anhui Dabie Mountains and the real-time seismic belt distribution map of China in the form of multimedia combined with pictures and text instructions.
Life evolution Hall
The exhibition hall is located on the West first floor of the north building, covering an area of about 1800 square meters. With the theme of "life evolution" and the main line of geological age, the exhibition hall introduces the origin, development and evolution of life on the earth according to each stage of life evolution in the form of solid fossil specimens, model specimens, graphic display boards, restored scenes and interactive multimedia. Among them, the Lantian biota, Chaohu ichthyosaurs and hairy dinosaurs are especially precious.
Dinosaur Hall
The exhibition hall is located on the west second floor, the West third floor and the west fourth floor of the north building, with an exhibition area of 4326 square meters. The second to fourth floor in the center of the hall is hollow, with a floor height of nearly 18 meters. Taking "the world of dinosaurs" as the theme, modern space aesthetic elements are used to organically combine dinosaur knowledge introduction, specimen display, ecological landscape restoration and interactive multimedia to display the history of dinosaur origin, evolution, development and extinction. Dinosaur hall is the main exhibition hall of the museum, which spans the second, third and fourth floors. The second floor is the exhibition area of basic knowledge of dinosaurs, large dinosaur skeletons and ecological restoration, with 9 representative dinosaur skeletons displayed in the center of the hall; the third floor is the exhibition area of dinosaur special knowledge, with topics such as Anhui dragon hunting, dinosaur feeding habits, dinosaur reproduction, dinosaur flying into the blue sky, close relatives of dinosaurs, and dinosaur extinction events; the fourth floor is the interactive exhibition area of dinosaurs, with dinosaur group photo and dinosaur resurrection There are 13 kinds of interactive exhibitions, such as guess, magic house, race with dinosaurs, dinosaur band, drawing dinosaurs in my heart.
Department of resources and environment
The exhibition hall is located on the second floor of the west of the south building, covering an area of about 1695 square meters. It is a multi-storey exhibition hall with three exhibition levels. With the theme of "rich and beautiful Anhui", the exhibition focuses on the land resources and geological environment of Anhui Province, highlighting the land resources, mineral resources, water resources and surveying and mapping results of Anhui Province, as well as the geological environment of Anhui Province, including geological relics, geoparks and geological disasters. Using advanced modern means to build an electronic demonstration sand table (about 12.5 meters long and 9.5 meters wide) of mineral resources and land resources in Anhui Province, to show the geology, landform and mineral resources of Anhui Province.
Mineral and Rock Hall
The exhibition hall is located on the West first floor of the south building, with an area of 935 square meters and a height of 6 meters. With the theme of "exquisite stones" and the introduction of the basic knowledge of mineral petrology as the starting point, from the aesthetic point of view, it shows the audience all kinds of exquisite minerals and rocks in nature in various ways. The exhibition hall is divided into basic knowledge of mineralogy exhibition area, common minerals exhibition area, gems exhibition area and ornamental stone exhibition area. It is systematically introduced by means of background design, text introduction, mineral specimen and various multimedia display means.
Exhibition Profile
There are about 45000 specimens in the collection of Anhui Provincial Geological Museum, including a variety of minerals, rocks, paleontological fossils, ornamental stones and gemstones. Among them, meteorites, Chaohu ichthyosaur fossils, Wannan dinosaur eggs, dinosaur bones and dinosaur footprints fossils in Anhui Province are especially precious. Here are the only "extraterrestrial visitors" in Anhui Province: meteorites, one of which came to Lujiang in 1994 and the other to Bozhou in 1977.
