Youyifeng glacier

Youyifeng glacier is located in the southwest slope of Kuitun peak and youyifeng in the headwaters of Kanas River in Altay, Xinjiang. It is the largest glacier in Altay Mountain. Kanas glacier in Heyuan is a valley glacier formed by the confluence of two glaciers developed on the southwest slope of Youyi peak. It has a multi-stage granular snow basin at the upper end and the front end of the ice tongue, with a total length of nearly 10.8km and an area of 30.13km2.

Youyifeng glacier is the valley glacier with the lowest altitude in China, which is highly praised at home and abroad. Youyifeng glacier is located in the Mongolian township of hemukanas, 210 km south of Buerjin county. There are asphalt roads and gravel roads to the Bank of Kanas Lake, and another 66 km road to ride to the glacier area. The end of the glacier is 2416 meters above sea level.

Original name

From the name of "friendship peak", we can guess that it is a boundary mountain. But I'm afraid few people can think that it's not! Although it is very close to the junction of China, Mongolia and Russia, it is not the boundary mountain. The real boundary mountain is Kuitun mountain

Friendship mountain is 3 kilometers to the south of Kuitun mountain in China. Youyi peak is the main peak of Altay Mountains, 4374 meters above sea level. You can see the snow capped peak from the fish watching Pavilion by Kanas Lake. The glacier in the source area of Kanas river is the largest glacier center in Altay Mountain, with a total ice and snow coverage area of more than 400 km2. Its area and reserves account for 71.46% and 70.08% of the glaciers in the Altay Mountains, respectively. Kanas glacier in Heyuan is a valley glacier formed by the confluence of two glaciers developed on the southwest slope of Youyi peak. The upper part of the glacier has a multi-stage granular snow basin, with a total length of nearly 12km and an area of 30.13km. The highest point of the glacier is about 4000m, and the end of the glacier tongue is 2416m. The upper part of the glacier is separated by a ridge, and the end is united. The glacial surface of the glacier is gentle (1 ordm; - 1.5 ordm;), and the flow is slow. There are several moraines between the ice flows on the surface of the glacier, which continue to the end of the glacier tongue, like a long snake winding forward. The thickest ice layer is more than 130 m, and the front end of the glacier tongue is 2-3 m thick due to melting. On the ice surface, there are small erosion depressions, sinkholes, subglacial rivers, ice mushrooms, fissures and ice caves, as well as boulders, middle moraines, side moraines and other modern glacial micro geomorphic landscapes.

Youyifeng glacier is located in the north of latitude, which is a good representative, and is the best base for scientific research and tourism exploration. Due to the influence of cold and humid air flow in Siberia, there is abundant precipitation. For a moment, the sky is clear and the sun is shining everywhere; for a moment, the clouds are dense and the fog is swirling; for a moment, the rain is pouring or the snowflakes are flying. You can feel the changes of the four seasons in a day. Scientific research

As early as the 1940s, a 30 member expedition of the former Soviet Union mysteriously disappeared in the exploration of friendship peak. In 1965, Chinese mountaineers tried to climb friendship peak, but they failed because of the precipitous mountain and lack of accurate understanding of friendship peak. In 1999, a Japanese mountaineering team once bought out the "first climbing right", but failed in the middle because it was unable to climb.

On August 8, 2000, Xinjiang Xibo mountaineer Yinggang, Uygur youth dilixiati and Russian youth Ren Yuqing set out from Kanas. On August 12, they rode over guogexigai Daban to reach the source of white lake. On August 16, they began to climb friendship peak. On the way, they set up Camp No. 1 at 3115 meters above sea level. On August 17, they set up a surprise camp at 3850 meters above sea level. On August 18, the team members were attacked by a snowstorm and were besieged for seven days. During the seven days, the team members experienced the tests of hunger, cold, pain and death, and were forced to retreat to the base camp in batches under the snowstorm in two days. On the 25th, the weather suddenly improved. The team members rushed to 3650 meters above sea level and took a rest that night. At 9:10 a.m. on the 26th of August, they launched a charge to the peak. Finally, they reached the peak at 15:20 p.m. and left a sign with three characters on the peak. In addition, in the process of climbing friendship peak, the team members also successfully climbed Kuitun peak with an altitude of 4140 meters and friendship peak 2 with an altitude of 4307 meters.
