LiuYe lake is a natural lake formed 50000 years ago, which is a part of the West Dongting Lake. Located in the northeast of Changde ancient city, Hunan Province, it is adjacent to Dongting Lake in the East, Yuanshui River in the south, Wuling Mountain in the West and Taiyang mountain in the north, with a total area of 175 square kilometers, including water area of 21.8 square kilometers. It is a compound tourist resort integrating mountain, water, countryside and city. It is known as "the first lake of Chinese cities" and "water paradise surrounded by cities".

LiuYe Lake tourist resort is located in the northeast corner of Changde City. Its central geographic coordinates are 29 ° 69 'n, 111 ° 76' e, 149 km south from Changsha and 126 km west from Zhangjiajie, with a total area of 175 square kilometers.

LiuYe Lake scenic spot is located in Changde City. In the National Climate Division, it belongs to the transition zone of subtropical humid monsoon climate to subtropical humid monsoon climate. The climate is warm with four distinct seasons, rich in heat, abundant in rainfall, changeable in spring, extremely hot in summer, cold in autumn and cold in winter. The annual average temperature is 16.7 ℃, the annual precipitation is 1346.5mm, and the frost free period is 272 days. It is suitable for the growth of rice, cotton and oil crops. Due to the influence of topography, the climate of the whole region presents a non zonal law. In the western mountainous area, the annual average temperature of Dongshanfeng farm in Shimen is 9.2 ℃, while that of Lishui River Valley in Cili and Shimen is 16.8 ℃. In the central hilly area, taifushan and Taiyangshan are facing each other to form a dustpan shaped basin, which is open to the north. As a result, linli and Taoyuan are vulnerable to cold air attack in winter. LiuYe lake is one of the birthplaces of Jingchu culture with profound cultural heritage.
