Shaoxing Zhou Enlai Memorial Hall

Shaoxing is the hometown of Zhou Enlai. Located at 369 Laodong Road, Shaoxing Zhou Enlai Memorial Hall is built on the Ming and Qing Dynasty style platform gate building of Zhou Enlai's ancestral and former residence. It faces south from the north and has three axis layout. It covers an area of 3800 square meters and a building area of 2100 square meters. Now it is a cultural relic protection unit and patriotism education base in Zhejiang Province.

Shaoxing Zhou Enlai Memorial Hall

Shaoxing, Zhejiang Province, is the ancestral home of Zhou Enlai. Located at No. 369, Laodong Road, Shaoxing, Zhou Enlai Memorial Hall is built based on the Ming and Qing style platform gate building of Zhou Enlai's ancestral home and former residence. The memorial hall faces south, with three axis layout, covering an area of 3800 square meters and a building area of 2100 square meters, which is the architectural style of Ming and Qing Dynasties. Now it is a national AAA scenic spot, a key cultural relic protection unit in Zhejiang Province and a patriotism education base.

Exhibition hall

Since 1984, party and state leaders such as Jiang Zemin, Li Peng, Li Ruihuan, Yang Shangkun and Wan Li have come here for inspection and visit, and have inscribed or signed autographs as souvenirs. The main scenic spots of Zhou Enlai Memorial Hall are: the hall of looking forward to Zhou Enlai, the exhibition of Zhou Enlai and his hometown, the glorious life exhibition hall, and Zhou Enlai's former residence.

Introduction to Zhou Enlai

Zhou Enlai is a descendant of Zhou Dunyi, a philosopher in the Northern Song Dynasty. His ancestors migrated to Shaoxing in Yuan Dynasty, and settled here in 1381, which is called xiyangtang. In 1698, the 37th year of Emperor Kangxi of Qing Dynasty, Zhou Maozhang's wife, Wang's, lived to be 100 years old. The governor of Zhejiang Province awarded the plaque of "the gate of the centenary mother", so it was called the centenary hall. As a teenager, Zhou Enlai lived and studied here and was deeply influenced by the history and culture of his hometown. March 28-31, 1939. At that time, Zhou Enlai came to Shaoxing as vice minister of the Political Department of the Military Commission of the national government to publicize the Anti Japanese War and engage in revolutionary activities. At the same time, accompanied by his relatives, Zhou Enlai visited the ancestral tomb, filled in his own name and Deng Yingchao's name on the genealogy, and left many inscriptions and photos, which fully showed his deep feelings for the people in his hometown (here is Zhou Enlai's respect for historical facts, because he really came from the Zhou family in Shaoxing, and he recognized a dry son in Shaoxing).

The rich display contents in the museum vividly show the close relationship between Zhou Enlai and his hometown Shaoxing, the propaganda of the Anti Japanese national united front in his hometown Shaoxing in March 1939, and the life scenes of the Zhou family at that time, and reproduce and eulogize the ordinary and glorious life of a generation of great people.

The hall of admiration is called the Xiyang hall. It used to be the place where the Zhou people held important ceremonial activities such as ancestor worship, marriage and so on. The plaque of "Xiyang hall" is hung high on the lintel, and in the hall stands a white jade statue of Zhou Enlai in military uniform. On the pillars of the hall are couplets of "selecting the virtuous and the able to build good faith, taking care of the country and running the wild, helping the world and the people", "serving the country and the people, working hard and complaining, Yin", which highly sums up Zhou Enlai's ordinary and great life.

"Zhou Enlai and hometown" exhibition room is located in the East axis building of the centenary hall. The exhibition hall mainly displays the genealogy of the Zhou family and the information about Zhou Enlai's return to his hometown at the end of March 1939 to guide the Anti Japanese and national salvation activities and ancestor worship. The exhibition is composed of two parts: "Zhou Enlai and his hometown" and "a long journey of beacon fire". It fully shows Zhou Enlai's deep relationship with Shaoxing and his noble morality of loving his hometown and caring for his relatives.

The exhibition hall of "glorious life" is located in the West axis of centenary hall, namely, recitation hall. The contents of the exhibition hall are divided into six parts: reading for the rise of China, fighting for the liberation of the Chinese people, being a good premier of the people, an outstanding diplomat, working hard for the party and the people, dying and living forever in our hearts. The exhibition hall displays the ordinary and great life of the great man Zhou Enlai through rich and accurate information.

Home of Zhou Enlai

Zhou Enlai's former residence is located at the back of the hundred year hall. In the spring of 1909, Zhou Enlai, 11 years old, followed his uncle I came to Shaoxing and lived in my hometown for some time. Later, Zhou Enlai went to Shenyang to study (he didn't go to Shenyang to study, but to his father. Later, with the help of his third uncle, he went to Fengtian to study.) Thirty years later, in September 1946, he told an American reporter, "my grandfather's name is Zhou Qikui. He was born in Shaoxing, Zhejiang Province. According to the traditional Chinese custom, his native place is from his ancestors. Therefore, I'm from Shaoxing.".

The memorial was completed

On February 13, 1998, the 100th anniversary of Zhou Enlai's birth in Zhejiang Province and Shaoxing City was solemnly held. The opening ceremony of Shaoxing Zhou Enlai Memorial Hall and the unveiling ceremony of Zhou Enlai's bronze statue were also held in the newly completed Memorial Hall Square. Since then, more and more people have come to pay homage to them, and their ancestral home has become more and more famous.
