Baoqing ancient city wall was built in Han Dynasty. It was built of earth. After Song Dynasty, it was built of brick and stone. It has five gates, seven floors and twelve fort. It is 4370 meters long, 8.3 meters high and 5 meters wide. The wall is built of bluestone and red sandstone. Inside the gate, there is an underground passageway leading to the outside of the city for emergency communication. The wall is close to Shaoshui in the East, Zijiang in the north, and pools in the West and south. It is as solid as gold. It is known as "Baoqing of iron".
Since the 1930s, due to the needs of the Anti Japanese War and urban construction, the ancient city walls have been demolished one after another. So far, only the two towers of Beimen and linjinmen, and one section of the walls of rhinoceros pond and xiwaiwan, each with a length of about 1000 meters, are still preserved. They are built in the song, Ming and Qing Dynasties, with a base site of more than 1000 meters. This is the longest and best preserved ancient city wall in our province. Baoqingfu ancient city wall has a high value of protection, development and utilization. It and the North Tower, Shuangqing ancient buildings, Shuifu temple, Zhenxiao jielie general square, xianrenjing are all distributed along the Zishui River, forming a line, which is an ideal tourist area.
