Zhalainor, Manzhouli City, has unique coal resources, with 10.1 billion tons of lignite reserves. It is one of the areas with rich coal reserves and early development in China. In order to protect and utilize the unique mining heritage resources in the mining area, Manzhouli City declared to build a national mine park in 2005, which was officially approved by the Ministry of land and resources. The construction of mine park started in May 2006 and completed in August 2008, with a total investment of 13 million yuan, covering an area of 4.5 square kilometers. It is divided into two scenic spots: open-air viewing square and Mine Museum. ZALAINUOER National Mine Park is a comprehensive park integrating scientific research, popular science education, sightseeing, cultural entertainment and leisure. The park has a panoramic view of the vast open pit. In the open pit, the steam locomotive, fold belt, coal geological structure and so on are rare and unique landscapes. In the long-term production process of the open-pit mine, a large number of ancient cultural relics with important historical and scientific research value have been unearthed, such as the well-known skull fossils of zalainuor people, mammoth fossils and Tuoba Xianbei ancient tombs. The completion of ZALAINUOER Mining Park provides a platform for the protection and display of these rich historical sites and mineral relics left by mining activities.
