Black tiger spring

Black tiger springs is located under the cliff on the South Bank of the South Moat of Jiefangge, Lixia District, Jinan City, Shandong Province, on the East Road of heihuquan, Jinan City.

Heihu spring is a natural cave, 2 meters high, 3 meters deep and 1.7 meters wide. The spring water mainly comes from the southeast of the cave. The cave is built by bluestone, and the cave is hidden under the rock wall. The spring pool is made of stone, slightly rectangular, about 17 meters wide and about 3 meters deep. There are three stone tiger heads on the south wall of the spring pool. The spring water flows through the underground ditch and spouts out through three stone tiger mouths.

The largest water inflow is 41000 cubic meters per day, second only to Baotu Spring.

Nearby, there are pipa, Xizhong, jiunu and other 14 famous springs, forming the black tiger spring group.

Heihuquan is one of the "72 Famous Springs" in Jinan, which are recorded in the famous spring stele of Jin Dynasty, the poem of 72 springs by Yan Bi of Ming Dynasty and the record of 72 springs by Hao Zhigong of Qing Dynasty. It ranks first among the "heihuquan group". It is one of the three spring groups in the world's first spring national AAAAA scenic spot.

The origin of the name

The name of black tiger spring was first seen in the famous spring stele of Jin Dynasty. The source of the name is the original "Black Tiger Temple" on the bank. Some people say that it is named because "water stimulates the pillar stone, and the sound is like the roar of a tiger". Therefore, the spring is a natural cave, in which there is a huge rock curling and lying down, and moss growing on it, which looks black, like a fierce tiger hiding deep. The spring water gushes out from under the huge rock, and the turbulent impact, coupled with the wind blowing into the cracks in the stone gap in the middle of the night, which looks like the roar of a tiger, so it is called black tiger spring.

The stele of famous spring in Jin Dynasty, the poem of 72 springs in Ming Dynasty and the record of 72 springs in Qing Dynasty are all recorded. The poem "Seventy two springs in Jinan black tiger spring" written by the poet of Ming Dynasty vividly depicts the sound and appearance of this spring: "the stone pan water mansion is dark, and the deep place is like black tiger hiding; in the middle of the night, the new wind blows the stone crack, and a clear roar and the moon has no light." At that time, Jinan was just a small village with dozens of families and more than 100 people. At the head of the village, there is a pool of spring water, which has a thick bowl mouth. Life was peaceful, so we named the spring taipingquan.

Unfortunately, this peaceful life will not last long. One year in early spring and February, the wind was sunny and warm, which was a great spring. But at noon, all of a sudden, the sky was covered with dark clouds, the wind was strong, and it was as dark as the third watch. I saw a thunderbolt split the sky in half, and then there was a deafening noise. A green dragon came down from the sky with teeth and claws. In that way, the timid people could be scared to death! As expected, Qinglong was no longer angry, but the sacrifice in these three days also made people poor and destitute. Many people leave their homes and go to other places, and those who stay also hate and fear Qinglong.
