Dalian is the hometown of track and field named by the state. As early as 1926, there was a famous long-distance runner named Liu Changchun. He is the first Chinese to take part in the Olympic Games. Since then, there have been many world-class athletes in Dalian track and field, such as Xu Yongyong, the world walking champion, Zou Zhenxian, the triple jump champion known as "Asian flying man", and Wang Junxia, Qu Yunxia, Liu Dong, Jiang Bo and Dong Yanmei, the disciples of Ma Jiajun, who swept the world's field.
When it comes to football, fans will naturally think of Dalian Wanda team. They won the championship seven times in the nine-year professional league, and the main players of the team are basically Dalian people. Dalian people account for more than one third of all previous national football teams. Famous players include Li Fusheng, Chi Shangbin, Jia Xiuquan, Ma Lin, Fu Yubin, Lin Lefeng, Xu Hong, Zhang Enhua, Li Ming and Sun Jihai. Dalian's other ball games are also among the best in the country. In swimming, Chen Yan, a woman swimmer who ranked first among China's top ten athletes in 1997, is known as the "gold lady"; Hu Xiaowen, a woman swimmer, broke the 100 meter medley world record. Dalian women's cycling team is also a world-class team. Wang Yan and other athletes have won World Championships for many times. In addition, Dalian's skirting, sailing, boxing and other sports are also strong.
In 1927, Dalian stadium held its maiden match, the first international football match in Northeast China. Dalian Chinese team, composed of Dalian Zhongqing and Longhua united, played against Japan national team (Waseda University team). The stadium, which has been in existence for 84 years at No. 66, Wusi Road, Xigang District, has not only become a physical landmark of Dalian, but also a sports and cultural landmark.
This "stadium" is the people's Stadium of Dalian. People in Dalian are used to calling it a stadium. As the only stadium in Dalian, no one will misunderstand it. Soon, however, with the demolition of the stadium over, things will be different.
history
1925-1928: birth and worries
The history of Dalian people's stadium can be traced back to 1920s. In 1925, Japan's Nanman railway company invested 320000 yen in the construction of Dalian stadium, which was the predecessor of the stadium until it was finally completed in August 1928.
Dalian stadium after completion consists of infield and outfield, covering a total area of 92000 square meters (including infield and outfield, swimming pool). The overall layout of the infield is similar to that of the current stadium: there are 8 semi-circular 400m concrete runways and 10 200m straights on the north side. Inside the track is a loess football field 102 meters long and 65 meters wide. The outfield is divided into East and West, each with a simple football field. The south-east and west sides are the open-air stands on the hillside, and the north side is the steel concrete structure stands with a steel canopy, which can accommodate a total of 20000 people. Although the scale and facilities are far away from the present, they are somewhat similar. However, some of the structures and facilities have been transformed for many times, and now there is no trace. This is the case with the swimming and diving outdoor swimming pool outside the track and field field.
Although looking back today, some facilities of Dalian stadium are not even as good as some primary and secondary school playgrounds, in the 1920s, it was already a stadium of high quality.
It took more than three years for Dalian stadium to be built, but the games and competitions can't wait so long. In 1927, Dalian stadium held its maiden match, the first international football match in Northeast China. Dalian Chinese team, composed of Dalian Zhongqing and Longhua united, played against Japan national team (Waseda University team).
Now it seems that the most regrettable thing in the planning and construction of Dalian stadium is the location and the direction. Now, it has become the center of Dalian, with a dense flow of people and traffic. How to quickly guide the crowd after large-scale competitions and activities has become a problem. However, at that time, the sports ground of Dalian was still in the countryside, and the vicissitudes of history were beyond the planners' expectation. Equally important, as the center of Dalian, some people think that such a place is too "luxurious" to be used as a stadium. After the demolition of the stadium, a high-end commercial center in Dalian will be built here, and luxury goods will play a leading role. But those memories that need some real things to remind or wake up will become real luxury with the demolition of the stadium, and lose the sense of existence, and only exist in the lonely memories of you, me and him.
As for the East-West trend of Dalian stadium, when it was still a loess stadium, runway and open-air stand, it may not be a major issue that needs careful consideration. However, decades later, such a trend has not met the requirements of modern international football matches, which not only made it miss the 1998 World Cup finals in 1997, but also "achieved" the tragedy of "no tears in Jinzhou", which also foreshadowed its final fate.
Dalian's transformation at the beginning of Liberation: small repair and big use
It's hard to tell how many times the 84 year old stadium has been renovated and renovated, especially after the founding of new China. However, it has to be mentioned that there have been three renovations, which have created the appearance of the stadium today.
The first transformation that is worth mentioning took place in the early days of the liberation of Dalian. Compared with the later transformation, it was only a simple repair, but it enabled Dalian people to stand on the Dalian stadium as masters for the first time.
After the outbreak of the Anti Japanese War, Japan's economy became more and more difficult. The Dalian stadium, which had been built for more than ten years, was in disrepair for a long time. In the early 1940s, the Japanese rulers tried several times to tear down the steel-concrete structure of the North grandstand to make weapons of aggression. When Japan surrendered in August 1945, the stadium, especially the grandstand, was seriously damaged.
At the beginning of the liberation of Dalian, the economic conditions were very difficult, but the stadiums were not forgotten and ignored. The municipal government allocated 6 million yuan (Guandong dollars) to focus on the maintenance of grandstands and swimming pools. From September 17 to 19, 1948, the first comprehensive sports meeting after the liberation of Dalian, the first Guandong sports meeting, was held here. The events included track and field, football, basketball, volleyball, etc. The Games were later designated as the first games of Dalian. On August 8, 2009, the 11th games of Dalian opened, but the venue has been transferred to Jinzhou stadium.
The name of Dalian sports ground was still used until 1951, when it was officially renamed as Dalian people's stadium.
Late 1970s to late 1980s: another new beginning
After all, there was no major operation in the reconstruction of Dalian at the beginning of the liberation. The track and football field were still soil, and the stands were narrow. As a result, a large-scale transformation began, extending from 1976 to 1989. Football field lawn, lighting lighthouse, plastic track, etc. make the stadium a national class a standard stadium.
In 1979, the football field was first dressed in green, and the number of spectators doubled to 40000 at the beginning of construction. In March 1984, 30 units in Dalian issued the proposal of raising funds to build lighthouses for stadiums. 110 units responded and raised funds to sponsor the proposal, which was made by shipyards, locomotive factories, heavy machinery factories and crane factories respectively. On June 28, 1984, the lighthouses lit up the sky of the stadium for the first time. The four lighthouses standing at the four corners of the main stadium stand were hoisted as a whole, which made it a reality to host the evening games
