Early Shang Fucheng site
The site of zaoshangfucheng is located on the platform in the northwest of Fucheng, 10 kilometers southwest of Jiaozuo City. It is about 280 meters long in east-west direction and 300 meters long in north-south direction. It is a cultural site with rich heritage and rich connotation, and has many historical periods.
Brief introduction of the site
The site covers an area of nearly 100000 square meters. An important part of the site is the remains of early Shang culture, which is distributed in the middle of the site. At present, the ruins have been found include city site, palace base, house base, ash pit and so on. The West and North walls are well preserved, with a length of about 300 meters. The exposed part of the ground is 2-3 meters high, with obvious layers. Four palace sites were found in the middle of the city site. The first Palace site is located in the north of the city site. The plane is rectangular, 70 meters long from north to South and 50 meters wide from east to west. It is divided into two courtyards, the South Hall, the main hall, the North Hall, the East corridor and the west corridor, forming a closed group of buildings. This kind of architectural structure was first found in the archaeology of Shang Dynasty. Through textual research, Fucheng site is an important military town in the early Shang Dynasty. Fucheng site in the early Shang Dynasty is another important discovery after Zhengzhou and Yanshi, which is of great value to the study of Xia, Shang and Zhou Dynasties and their politics, economy, military and culture. In 1999, it was rated as one of the top ten new archaeological discoveries in China by China Heritage daily.
Cultural relics protection
In June 2001, Fucheng site was announced as the fifth batch of national key cultural relics protection units by the State Council.
