Nanping Museum

Nanping museum was founded in October 1986, with 4 staff (1 associate researcher, 1 second-class artist and 2 retired). Its main functions are: preserving precious cultural relics and other historical and cultural heritage, preserving precious natural specimens; carrying out social education, spreading scientific and cultural knowledge; ideological and moral education, enriching social and cultural life; promoting China's tourism. Through the hard work of the whole library, the collection of cultural relics has started from scratch. Up to now, 3009 pieces of cultural relics have been collected, including 2 pieces of first-class cultural relics, 32 pieces of second-class cultural relics and 1726 pieces of third-class cultural relics. There are fine ceramics, ancient coins, jade, calligraphy and painting, iron, bronze, four treasures of the study, ancient wood carving, etc. Among them, "Zheng He bronze bell" was collected and exhibited by the Museum of Chinese history. The cultural relics exhibition receives nearly ten thousand visitors every year, including domestic experts, scholars and students.

Nanping Museum

Nanping museum is a regional national comprehensive museum, located at 266 Makeng Road, Nanping City, covering an area of 4171 square meters and a building area of 6368 square meters. Nanping Museum has 5073 pieces (sets) of cultural relics, including 2 pieces (sets) of first-class products, 45 pieces (sets) of second-class products and 2005 pieces (sets) of third-class products. There are fine ceramics, ancient coins, jade, calligraphy and painting, iron, bronze, four treasures of the study, ancient wood carving, etc. Among them, the original collection treasure "Zheng He bronze bell" has been collected and displayed by the National Museum of China.

In 1994, Nanping City was changed from land to city, the former Nanping City was changed into Yanping District, and Nanping City Museum was upgraded to prefecture level museum at the same time. The old Nanping City Museum is located at No.4 Xinhua Road, Nanping City, with an area of 600 square meters. It began to be built in 1984 and opened to the public in October 1986. With more and more attention paid by the state to cultural undertakings, the new Nanping Museum started construction in 2005, and opened on November 28, 2011 for free.

Nanping museum is a full financial allocation department level institution, with the original establishment of 4. In 2011, the establishment increased to 11. In 2012, with the approval of Nanping Municipal Party committee, the government purchased 10 more social service posts, employed outside the staff, and guaranteed by the government. As of December 2016, Nanping Museum has 28 employees. 3、 Field archaeology and scientific research

In recent years, under the leadership of the Municipal Bureau of culture, Nanping Museum has cooperated with the Municipal Office of cultural administration to complete the third national cultural relics survey. Since 2000, in order to cooperate with the construction of key projects in our province, our museum, together with the Institute of Archaeology of Fujian Museum, the archaeological team of Xiamen University and the county (city) Museum, has jointly completed the investigation, exploration and archaeological excavation along the construction of Beijing Fuzhou Expressway, Punan Expressway, Beijing Taiwan Expressway and Yanshun expressway. Among them, the Shang Dynasty kiln group in Pucheng and the mound Tomb of the Western Zhou Dynasty in Guanjiu were rated as "the top ten new archaeological discoveries in China" in 2005 and 2006 respectively.

Cooperate with infrastructure projects and public security departments to carry out rescue excavation and cleaning of ancient tombs found or stolen, cooperate with public security departments to carry out preliminary identification of collected cultural relics, and participate in rescue archaeological excavation of ancient tombs in various counties and cities.

4、 Sources and use of funds

The existing funds of Nanping Museum mainly come from the national special funds for free opening, provincial special subsidies, and municipal special funds for operation, which basically guarantee the free opening and operation of the museum.

The funds provided by the higher authorities are mainly used for the following aspects: museum building maintenance, free open operation, temporary exhibition, collection and protection of cultural relics, field archaeology, professional personnel training, etc.

5、 Major events of museum development

On November 28, 2011, the new Nanping museum was officially opened.
