The site of South Shaolin Temple is located in Linshan village, Jiulian Mountain, West Tianwei Town, Putian. There is a Linquan courtyard in the mountain. It was built in the first year of Chen Yongding in the Southern Dynasty. During the Jiayou period of the Northern Song Dynasty, the temple has formed a very prosperous martial arts style, and has become a martial arts activity center and a famous tourist attraction in the southeast coast of China. The rebuilt South Shaolin Temple in Putian has begun to take shape. The main hall, the heavenly king hall, the bell and Drum Tower, the mountain gate and the "South Shaolin" memorial archway inscribed by Zhao Puchu are majestic and magnificent. The surrounding ancient bamboo temple, xiawu temple, jiulianyan temple and other large and small temples surround the South Shaolin Temple, forming a magnificent temple community, which reproduces the magnificent bearing of the ten square jungle of that year. In 1986, archaeologists excavated and discovered the site of South Shaolin Temple; in 1992, the Fujian provincial government officially approved the Putian municipal government to rebuild the South Shaolin Temple on the site; in 1998, the reconstruction of South Shaolin Temple was completed; in 2006, religious activities resumed in South Shaolin Temple, and Putian municipal government invited master Xuecheng, then vice president of China Buddhist Association, to preside over the work of the temple; on December 29, 2012, the South Shaolin Temple was held At the grand ceremony, master Kongxing was honored as the abbot of South Shaolin Temple, and master Xuecheng gave his seat to master Kongxing.

Temple scale
In 1986, Putian City discovered an ancient architectural site at the foot of Jiulian Mountain in the northern part of Xitianwei Town, as well as five large granite stone trough steles and pillars built in the Northern Song Dynasty. Scholars from the stone trough 226 cm long and 100 cm wide, engraved with "zhuluohan yujiancha San" beside the trough From the words "linquanyuan" and "sishanjie" on the remnant steles and pillars, the most striking one is the stone trough of Song Dynasty, which weighs thousands of Jin. On the stone trough is engraved with "yongqijiaqi, a monk soldier in the temple, made a stone trough together". It is speculated that this site may be the site of South Shaolin Temple.
Historical dust
The South Shaolin Temple in Jiulian Mountain is more than 500 meters above sea level. The terrain is similar to the mountain basin in Henan Province. It is located in the middle of Jiulian Mountain range. The terrain is very dangerous. It is an ideal place for military strategists. In the small plain of the mountain basin, cultivation can be self-sufficient, and the base camp is only a few miles away from each pass. Moreover, the slope is gentle, so if there is military intelligence, it will not take a moment to defend the pass by risk. From the geographical point of view, Shaolin Temple is really a place where it is easy to defend but hard to attack.
Around the temple area, there are more than 10 villages, including Zhushan, Zhangjiang, zhaitou, etc. Hilltop tails and Wutong Mountain are also magnificent mountain waterfalls with high forty and 3 meters. The site of Shaolin Temple is located in the center of Jiulianshan basin. The base of the temple is more than 20000 square meters, and the bearing of ten square jungles can be imagined. In the early Qing Dynasty, the South Shaolin Temple was closely related to the heaven and Earth Society in the struggle against the restoration of Ming Dynasty. The Qing Dynasty was deeply resentful and sent troops to burn it down. From then on, Putian South Shaolin Temple was buried in the dust of history.

On April 25, 1992, Putian City held a press conference at the Great Hall of the people in Beijing, officially announcing the discovery of the site of South Shaolin Temple to the outside world. The 29th generation abbot of Songshan Shaolin Temple, master Dechen, director of the Chinese Buddhist Association, attended the press conference. According to the instructions of his predecessors, he tentatively proposed Linquan temple, namely South Shaolin Temple, and presented an autograph of "South Shaolin is at the foot of Jiulian Mountain in Putian, Fujian Province". Putian South Shaolin Temple has begun to take shape. The main hall, Tianwang hall, bell and Drum Tower, Mountain Gate and the memorial archway of "South Shaolin" inscribed by Zhao Puchu are majestic and magnificent.
Traffic conditions
South Shaolin scenic spot is located in Jiuhua Mountain, Xitianwei Town, Licheng District, Putian City, 16 kilometers away from the urban area, starting from lingtoulongli in the East, Beimen village in the west, houzhuo village in the South and Zushan temple in the north. Fuxia 324 National Road runs through the whole area. There is an interchange between Fuxia Expressway and the area, and Lihan Avenue runs through it, providing convenient traffic conditions for economic development and South Shaolin scenic spot.
The total planning area of the South Shaolin scenic spot is 26.1 square kilometers. Jiuhua Diecui and Zixiao grotesque stones are listed as two of the 24 scenic spots in Putian.
Distribution of scenic spots
According to the natural geographical distribution of the scenic spots, the spatial layout form of central radiation is adopted. Taking the tourism organization mode of combining belt, area and piece, a structural system of "one belt, three areas and nine pieces" is formed, that is, the waterfront leisure and holiday tourism festival extending northward with Shipan reservoir as the center, three scenic spots including South Shaolin, Jiuhua Diecui and Zixiao strange stone, Shaolin sight seeing, Jiuhua Diecui, Zixiao Yanfu, Chenghu Jinbi, Xiangfeng Wuhai, Fengyang Jungu, kuzhu secluded and colorful Chengkangzhuang, Xilan Chunhui and other nine landscape areas.
The scenic spot is rich in landscape resources, such as luxuriant trees, strange rocks, beautiful mountains and waters, and beautiful scenery. It has not only rich natural resources, but also many cultural landscapes, historic buildings, folk arts and legends, as well as rich traditional culture and local products. South Shaolin is an important birthplace of Southern Boxing, a holy land for promoting Shaolin culture, and a school for martial arts and fitness.
In 1991, the Chinese Martial Arts Association, Fujian Provincial Sports Committee and Fujian Martial Arts Association organized relevant experts at home and abroad to conduct a scientific demonstration of the South Shaolin site, and concluded that the South Shaolin scenic spot has great potential for the development of scenery and tourism and has strong exploitability. Develop the South Shaolin scenic spot, and build a multi-level tourism boutique integrating religious pilgrimage, tourism, leisure, recreation and fitness, and integrating nature and culture. It is estimated that the annual number of tourists will reach 5 million.
The project plans to rebuild the thousand Buddha Hall, monk house and martial arts hall in the South Shaolin Temple, with a total construction area of 9000 m2; develop 20000 mu of sightseeing agricultural orchard; build 60 summer resort buildings; and build 13 scenic spots. The total investment of the project is 320 million yuan, and the investment mode is joint venture or cooperation. After the development of the project, the annual tourism profits and taxes are expected to reach more than 60 million yuan. Xiamen landscape planning and Design Institute has been entrusted to complete the design and planning, and is organizing the demonstration and other preliminary work.

Thirty six treasures
"Thirty six treasures" traditional boxing is one of the boxing styles in South Shaolin of Putian City, which originated from South Shaolin.
The routine of "thirty six treasures" boxing is characterized by outstanding strength, and uses fist, palm and finger. The leg method is simple and practical. The basic skills are finger, wrist, arm, waist and stake. The strength can be divided into sticking, wrapping, bouncing and so on. In the aspect of attack, we should pay attention to short hitting, catching and hitting acupoints to defeat the enemy.
Singing crane
Ming He Er Ba Su is one of the boxing styles in South Shaolin. It originated from Bai He Quan and then evolved into four boxing styles: flying, singing, sleeping and eating. Minghe boxing, natural gate boxing, Wuzu boxing, Taijiquan and Dishu boxing are listed as representative boxing in Fujian Province. Dai Yilong, the representative inheritor, has published monographs such as "South Shaolin boxing doctor Huizong". In 2003, he was awarded "LiuDuan boxer" by the Chinese Wushu Association. His family's "South Shaolin boxing manual" is an important material for the study of South Shaolin Wushu.
It has important academic value and practical significance to rescue, protect, excavate and inherit minghequan. On December 14, 2011, Putian South Shaolin martial arts, which echoes the northern Shaolin martial arts of Songshan in Henan Province, was selected into the fourth provincial intangible cultural heritage list. From 2013 to 2014, we will strive to successfully apply for the national intangible cultural heritage list and achieve the best comprehensive protection goal.
Putian South Shaolin martial arts is the spread of Chinese Shaolin Martial Arts in the south, and rooted, inherited and developed among the people. It is a wonderful flower of Chinese traditional martial arts. Putian South Shaolin martial arts has been introduced into Putian folk for 300 years since Qing Dynasty. Its martial arts are exquisite and skillful, which can be used in fitness and defense. It involves history, military science, religion, folklore and many other fields. The research on the inheritance of South Shaolin martial arts will effectively promote the development of South Shaolin martial arts culture, improve the popularity of Putian, promote the development of Putian and martial arts, and also play a positive role in physical fitness and self-defense.
