Ancient city ruins of shuihui shouyusuo in Ming Dynasty

Located in Dabao village, Limushan Town, Qiongzhong County, Hainan Province, it is about 40 km away from Yinggen Town, and only 1 km away from the town government in the East. Originally an ancient castle, it has a history of more than 400 years. Its outline is still there, but the towers and buildings have disappeared. This is the ancient city site of shuihui garrison in Ming Dynasty.

Shuihui site

The site is located on a high hill. It is now covered by a large area of rubber forest. However, the outline of the city wall is still clear. The 1-meter-high wall can't be seen at a glance, which shows the scale of that year. According to the records of Wanli Qiongzhou capital, the water Club city is located in linwan capital of Qiongshan. It is 300 li away from the city. There are garrisons and social schools in the city. Water Club city was the transportation hub of Central Hainan at that time, reaching Wanning and Lingshui in the East, Danzhou and Thanksgiving in the west, and Qiongshan and Ding'an in the north. With prosperous trade and people coming and going, it became the political, economic and cultural center of Central Hainan during the Ming and Qing Dynasties.

The history of shuihui

According to the records of Wanli Qiongzhou Prefecture, the name of "shuihui" is "Shuijiao" in linwan capital of Qiongshan county and the second battalion of the General Assembly ". There are two barracks around the city, which shows its importance. The name of "shuihui" may be derived from "Shuijiao" and "Huida". How long has water society continued? According to the records of Qiongzhou Prefecture by Daoguang of Qing Dynasty, it stopped running school at the latest during the reign of Daoguang of Qing Dynasty, but the reason for its abandonment is ominous. It existed for about 200 years. The influence of a school that can exist for 200 years can be imagined.

Water meeting area

Standing on the earth wall, looking south, about 4 kilometers ahead is the rolling Limu mountains. The city wall is 1180 meters long, 2.16 meters high and 3 meters wide; it is 600 meters from east to west and 300 meters from north to south, which is oval in shape and earth rock structure; the stone bricks for building the wall are 0.38 meters × 0.18 meters × 0.09 meters and 0.28 meters × 0.05 meters × 0.9 meters. Only the three gates of Dong'an gate, Nanping gate and Xi'an gate recorded in ancient books and the four towers on the city wall can not be found. From a gap in the south of the ancient city, you can walk more than 100 meters to Shuishi village. There are only 24 families and more than 100 Li villagers.
