School history

In April 1949, Dalian University Institute of technology was established.

In July 1950, the organizational system of Dalian University was abolished, and Dalian University of technology was independent.

In October 1960, the University was designated as a national key university directly under the Ministry of education.

In February 1978, the University was redefined as a national key university directly under the Ministry of education.

In November 1981, with the approval of the State Council, the University became one of the first batch of doctoral and master degree awarding units in China.

In April 1986, the University set up a graduate school.

In March 1988, the University changed its name to Dalian University of technology.

In 1996, the Ministry of education, Liaoning Province and Dalian jointly built Dalian University of technology.

In 1999, the University was selected as the first batch of national college students' cultural quality education bases.

In 2001, the Ministry of education, Liaoning Province and Dalian city jointly built Dalian University of technology.

In 2003, the school was designated by the central government as a cadre school.

In January 2006, the school was selected into the national "111 plan".

In March 2007, the University became the first batch of Pilot Universities for the reform of postgraduate training mechanism; in September, the first batch of universities selected for the implementation of the national innovative experimental program for college students. In the same year, it became one of the first ten universities jointly implemented by the Ministry of education and the Chinese Academy of engineering.

In June 2010, it was selected into the first batch of "excellent engineer education and training plan" universities of the Ministry of education.
