Niutoushan Forest Park is located in Zhangwan District, Shiyan City, Hubei Province, with a total area of 16 square kilometers and a forest coverage rate of 93%. In 2001, it was rated as a national AA tourist attraction.

Overview of scenic spots

Niutoushan Forest Park has more than 2 million yuan of fixed assets, 10 million yuan of nursery stock assets, 200 mu of nursery stock breeding base, which can provide more than 50 kinds of greening seedlings such as Magnolia grandiflora, Cedrus deodara, Osmanthus fragrans, Michelia davidiana, etc. It has beautiful mountains and rivers, luxuriant vegetation, overlapping peaks and pleasant climate. It has developed and packaged a number of scenic spots, such as bonsai garden, rock garden, yanwugou, Tiger Village, Shennong medicine collecting, Xitou Baijiang, Meiyuan, jingjingtan, Gaofeng temple, siguting, Centennial oak, huyanchi, Checheng, etc. There are more than 2000 bonsai pots in the bonsai garden, among which Pyracantha fortuneana, Myrica rubra, Chimonanthus praecox, and shuibaimei are of great appreciation value. The rocks in the rock garden have different shapes, which make people forget to return. The Tiger Village has a long history and is a precious ancient site. There are a large number of temple sites in the village, such as Baihu temple, Taishan temple, God of wealth temple, baihushi, luanshipo, Fengbao mountain, and zhongzi mountain Well preserved, it is a good place to explore the ancient.

Two highlights

"Yanhu park is the top priority of the reconstruction project of Niutoushan Forest Park, and it is also one of the earliest completed projects," said Wang Youhua, director of Niutoushan forest park.

According to the plan, Yanhu park will be transformed into an open-air swimming pool. Yanhu water park has become a water entertainment area integrating swimming, high platform diving, bungee jumping and outdoor development training.

Yanhu Park was originally managed by Dongfeng company. On December 6, 2007, Yanhu Park was transferred to Shiyan City and included in the scope of Niutoushan forest park. The municipal forestry bureau held a special meeting on February 28, 2008 to discuss the transformation of Yanhu park. At the beginning of March, the water in the lake was drained to prepare for the next transformation. At the same time, the Municipal Forestry Bureau organized personnel to carry out afforestation around Yanhu park. Due to the serious phenomenon of opening up wasteland for cultivation, there are more than 100 mu of bare mountains around Yanhu park. The forestry department has dug 25000 tree nests and will plant seedlings in mid March.

Yanhu Park renovation planning and design scheme is under intense preparation. It is expected to complete the renovation of the swimming pool by the end of May, the maintenance, restoration and new construction of the swimming pool tourism infrastructure by the end of June, and open to the public by the end of July. Yanhu park will be one of the highlights of Niutoushan Forest Park, and the endangered plant transplantation Park of South to North Water Diversion in Niutoushan Forest Park is another highlight. The endangered plant transplantation Park of South to North Water Diversion Project, also known as Northwest Hubei botanical garden, is a research base jointly built by Niutoushan Forest Park and Wuhan Botanical Garden of Chinese Academy of Sciences. The botanical garden will transplant the rare and endangered plants in the flooded area of the south to North Water Diversion Project to the garden for scientific research and tourists' viewing. Botanical garden is divided into species collection and preservation area, ex situ plant conservation area, ornamental plant exhibition area and other three areas, 12 districts. The botanical garden has passed the expert evaluation in 2007, and is applying to the national south to north water diversion office, with an estimated investment of 30 million yuan.

Three gardens in one

On March 4, 2008, the expert review meeting for the constructive master plan of Niutoushan Forest Park was held, and the master plan of Niutoushan Forest Park prepared by the original tourism planning and Design Institute passed the expert review. This marks the transformation and construction of Niutoushan forest park officially started. Niutoushan forest park here refers to the "new park" composed of the original Niutoushan Forest Park, Yanhu Park and Meijing park.

"In another 10 years, Shiyan will be Niutou mountain in addition to Wudang Mountain. The new Niutoushan park will be a tourist attraction in front of Shiyan people's homes, "said Wang Youhua, director of Niutoushan Forest Park confidently.

The new Niutoushan Forest Park is designed according to the national 4A city theme forest park. The plan will be implemented gradually within 10 years, and the total investment will exceed 130 million yuan or even reach 300 million yuan.

Xinniutoushan Forest Park is divided into service area, scenic area, entertainment area and special tourism area, introducing a variety of recreational facilities. It includes 15 areas, including Jingtan lake water recreation area, Shangbiao Lake alpine resort area and fengbaoxia primeval forest exploration area, covering an area of 1683.14 hectares.

The transformation of the park is carried out in strict accordance with the principles of ecological landscape, landscape recreation, recreation and sports, ecological construction and interesting traffic. It is expected to be completed in three phases within 10 years. After the completion of the first phase transformation project, the tourist reception capacity will increase from 100000 person times to 250000 person times per year. After the transformation is completed, the reception capacity will be increased to 400000 person times per year.

After Yanhu Park and Meijing park are merged into Niutoushan Forest Park, road connection bears the brunt. Only through road connection, can the original three scattered scenic spots really "merge into one". According to the plan, in addition to the existing road to Niutoushan Forest Park, a ring road from Dongfeng 48 plant to Niutoushan will also be built. In the park, different means of transportation, such as battery cars, cableways, and ropeways, are provided according to different locations.

After the unification of the three parks, the area will reach more than 30000 mu, and the East, north, West and South gates of the park will be built in 41 plants, 40 plants, 49 plants and Meijing park. Convenient for the daily management of the park, but also convenient for the public access.

Background benefit

Although Shiyan City is a national landscape garden city, there is a lack of heavyweight and open ecological parks in the city, which is somewhat flawed: after the reconstruction and construction of the new Niutoushan Forest Park, it will fill the gap. A landscaping expert said.

Throughout Shiyan City, several parks around the city, there are congenital defects. The people's Park is located in the center of the city, so it's lucky that there is too little space to expand and it doesn't crowd out or shrink. Sifang mountain is too small and lacks space for development. Looking at Yanhu park alone, it has almost become a "drowning Park". Every year, people drown in Yanhu park. According to statistics, over the years, more than 100 people have died in Yanhu. Many people do not know the location of meijingyuan.

When the Niutoushan Forest Park, Yanhu Park and Meijing park are merged and planned, the benefits will be multiplied immediately.

At the mayor's office meeting on September 6, 2007, the plan of "three parks in one" was thrown out. On December 6, Dongfeng company officially handed over Yanyan park to Shiyan. On February 20, 2008, the municipal government issued the No.9 special meeting minutes to conduct a special study on the construction and development of Niutoushan forest park. On March 4, the master plan of Niutoushan Forest Park passed the expert review. The reconstruction and construction project of Niutoushan Forest Park is advancing steadily according to the fastest speed.

"Yanhu park has a clear water, Meijing park has a green tree, and Niutoushan Forest Park is full of green hills. If these three parks are integrated, they will form the" aircraft carrier "of Shiyan urban tourism." Wang Youhua, director of Niutoushan Forest Park, compares them with each other.

The integration and expansion of Niutoushan forest park can not only greatly improve the recreational environment of citizens, but also enhance the grade of existing tourist attractions, form new tourist hot spots, promote the development of forest tourism, and speed up the construction of eco-tourism city. Niutoushan Forest Park is the ecological barrier and air purifier in the south of Shiyan City. Reasonable tourism development can "feed back" ecological protection. After the "three gardens in one", through the connection of roads, the living space of urban residents can be expanded. The economic benefits are also self-evident. Although the municipal government plans to gradually cancel the tickets of Niutoushan Forest Park and open them free of charge, the economic benefits of the tertiary industry can not be ignored.
