Liuxiang South Road
Liuxiang is one of the ancient streets in Taiyuan City, and Liuxiang South Road, derived from the name of Liuxiang, is a new street that has been around for more than 40 years.
Development history
Liuxiang South Road was built in 1956. It was widened, straightened and opened on the former sites of old streets and alleys such as dayuanjia lane, Youzi lane, dizang'an lane and Masheng lane. Before the advent of Liuxiang South Road, today's Zhonglou street and Qiaotou at the crossroads were connected with each other and intersected with Liuxiang T-shaped. Although it is the prosperous place of Taiyuan, it is not smooth. It is very inconvenient to walk south. It needs to go around Haizibian in the East and four branches in the west, which wastes a lot of time. After the opening of Liuxiang South Road, a traffic trunk road from the south entrance of Liuxiang in the north to Yingze street in the south connects the commercial downtown with the southern streets and plays a positive role in the circulation of commodities, economic development and pedestrian convenience in Taiyuan
Liuxiang South Road, just like the connotation of its name, is worthy of the name. On the inside of the street, willows are planted. In spring, the tender leaves are yellow and green; in summer, willow catkins are curling and the trees are full of shade; in autumn, the branches are dancing in the wind; in winter, they are more charming and charming than the old willow lane.
Eight Banners guild hall
When talking about Liuxiang South Road, we can't do without Changfeng theater. When talking about Changfeng theater, it reminds us of xiaojixian, the famous actor of Jin opera, and the "Eight Banners guild hall" in his early years.
The Eight Banners guild hall was founded in the middle of Qing Dynasty. At that time, there were a lot of banners in Taiyuan, Shanxi Province. For convenience, a special place was set up in the middle school Weiying, the center of Taiyuan government, for the banners from Dezhou, Shandong, Cangzhou, Baoding, Hebei and other places to rest, stop, negotiate business and gather in Taiyuan. Because of its special service for Manchu banners, it is called "Eight Banners guild hall". Moreover, because most of the banners here belong to Manchu people in Northeast and Hebei, it is also called "Qifeng Luyan guild hall". On the eve of the fall of the Qing Dynasty, the Eight Banners guild hall was not as prominent as before, and it also received some passers-by and business group guests besides the banners. As a result, the Liyuan disciples of Jin opera often come and go here. They make their debut here, singing, reciting and fighting. They become a place called guild hall, which is actually a theater. Around the 17th year of the Republic of China (1928), the Eight Banners guild hall, which was not worthy of its name, was abandoned and named mingshenglou, which became a famous opera garden in the provincial capital. There is no way to count the famous Jin opera school that once performed here, but Xiao Jixian is the only one who has won the first place and enjoyed a long reputation.
Xiaopai Art
Xiao Jixian, whose real name is Zhang Baokui, started his career as a teacher at the age of 10. He first attacked Hebei Bangzi and was worshipped by Zhang Jixian. When he was 17 years old, he was famous in Zhangjiakou and Baotou. When he was 20 years old, he turned to Jin opera. He integrated the singing characteristics of Jin opera, Hebei Bangzi and Beijing opera. He integrated the skills of Xiaodan, daomadian and Huadan. He was able to do both civil and martial arts. He created many vivid stage images and created the "Xiao school" Art in Jin opera
The success of Xiaopai art is inseparable from Mingsheng building, the Eight Banners guild hall. When Xiao came to Taiyuan, he borrowed the decadent guild hall to form his own troupe, accepted apprentices, wrote and performed a large number of operas, which made a sensation in Taiyuan and became a good story in the art garden
Today's Changfeng theater was rebuilt on the site of Mingsheng building in the year of Chengjie, Liuxiang South Road. It was one of the most famous theatres in Taiyuan in the 1950s and 1960s. Mei Lanfang troupe, Shanghai Peking Opera Theater, China Peking Opera Troupe No.2, No.4, Beijing People's Art Troupe and Central Radio rap troupe all performed here for the people of the provincial capital. Famous artists such as Mei Lanfang, Shang Xiaoyun, Zhou Xinfang, Ma Lianliang, Xi Xiaobo, Qiu Shengrong, Li Hezeng, Guo Lanying, Hou Baolin and Ding Guoxian all performed masterly here. Liuxiang South Road and Changfeng theater, located here, have received so many famous actors and actresses for Taiyuan city and Shanxi Province, which Taiyuan people will never forget.
