Shentang Bay

Located at the southern foot of the Tianzi mountain, it is a huge natural barrel shaped concave Valley, surrounded by cliffs and bottoms, which is unfathomable. Shentang Bay has been covered with a layer of mystery since ancient times. It is said that it is the place to return to heaven. Some people say that when you stand on the edge of the cliff, you can vaguely hear the sounds of gongs and drums, people shouting and horses hissing at the bottom of the valley. It seems that thousands of troops are fighting. There are thousands of stone pillars rising in Shentang Bay, with steep peaks and jagged rocks, just like a stone forest. The most beautiful thing in Shentang Bay is the sea of clouds. When it is sunny after rain, stone peaks are looming, forming a picture of Penglai fairyland.

Shentangwan, located in Tianzishan nature reserve, Sangzhi County, Zhangjiajie City, Hunan Province, is a forbidden area in Wulingyuan scenic area.

According to the records of Cili County annals compiled during the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty, Shentang Bay, formerly known as "Shentang village", is located in the west of Suoxi valley. It is a semi-circular deep valley depression full of mystery. There are cliffs on three sides of Shentang Bay, and only one side has a gap on the mountain, overlooking the bottom of the bay. You get a sense of mystery.

The bay is deep and mysterious. Sometimes it is sunny and auspicious. Sometimes it is windy and foggy. What's more amazing is that as long as people get close to the Bay, the sound of gongs and drums, people shouting and horses hissing will be heard faintly. It seems that thousands of troops are fighting.

In the Bay, clouds and fog roam among the forest peaks. The wind blows and the cold is pressing. The huge ancient vines are intertwined. Hawks and harriers roar by. Sometimes, the sounds of gongs and drums and people shouting and hissing are heard in the bay. It is said that this was the ancient battlefield where the five daughters of the Yang family fought in the south in the Song Dynasty. Once upon a time, some people entered Shentang Bay, but they never came back. So far, no one dares to ask about it. According to analysis, this may be a natural magnetic field.

It is said that a long time ago, a local old man who was wearing hemp rope climbed down the cliff and collected a basket full of precious herbs. He took down the basket and sat down on an old mossy tree trunk to have a rest. Suddenly, the tree trunk rolled and left the old man aside. There were two green lights and fog. The tree trunk flew into the cave and turned out to be a python. The old man was scared out of his wits, but he still couldn't calm down when he came home, and finally died of excessive fright.

The period of Liberation

In the early days of liberation, Soviet scientists, accompanied by a group of PLA soldiers, went to Shentang Bay, but they have never come back.

In the early 1970s, a few militiamen, who were not afraid of the weather and the land, took dogs and carried 38 rifles to explore Shentang Bay. When they got to a third of the Bay, the dog refused to go. The wind was bleak. The militiamen bravely groped forward. All of a sudden, an animal sprang out of the thatch. People were so quick that they put it to death. It turned out to be a big mouse. It was just 16 kg. Up to now, no one has come down to the bottom of Shentang Bay, and its mysterious veil is still hidden in this mysterious place. In particular, every new year's Eve, Shentang Bay is full of music and people's voices, just like thousands of families get together to celebrate the program. Some people say that when Xiang Tianzi led all the soldiers to jump into Shentang Bay, the noise was that Xiang and all the soldiers were on New Year's Eve. It is also said that Shentang Bay is unfathomable. The "hidden dragon and crouching tiger" inside is the sound made by those animals. Others say that the stones in Shentang Bay are magnetic. They record the sounds of fighting against the king and the army in those years. They record the sounds of storm, thunder and lightning. Under certain conditions, these sounds will be released again.

Tourism information

From Zhangjiajie forest park ticket station, walk or take the green car provided by the park (the cost of green car is included in the park ticket) to Tianzishan, and then walk to Shentang Bay.
