Hengyang Zoo
Hengyang zoo is located in Yanfeng District of Hengyang City, an important town in central and South China. It was founded in 1956 and expanded in 1980. It is the only zoo in southern Hunan. It is the second largest zoo in Hunan Province, covering an area of 154 mu. It has beautiful environment with mountains, water and scattered places. The greening rate in the park reaches 68%. The existing animal cage covers an area of more than 6000 square meters, which is divided into seven areas: beast hall, monkey mountain, bird house, herbivore area, crawling hall, fur animal hall, hippo hall, etc. There are 58 kinds of animal breeds and more than 400 heads (feathers). There are more than 20 species of animals under national first class protection, including giant panda, Amur tiger, leopard, sika deer, leopard, python, Jaguar, Bengal lizard and Australian kangaroo. There are more than 50 species of protected animals, including African lion, black bear, brown bear, macaque and camel. Stroll among them, birds chirp, peacocks open screen, quite natural taste.

Hengyang zoo is located at the intersection of Xianfeng road and Tianmashan South Road in Yanfeng District of Hengyang City, which is an important town in central and South China. The national first level protected animals include Amur tiger, Bengal tiger, clouded leopard, sika deer, Chinese alligator, giant lizard, python, etc Green Peacock, Jaguar, Bengal giant lizard, Australian kangaroo and so on. It covers an area of 200 square meters, including a sports ground of 140 square meters. There are all kinds of sports fitness equipment and turf in the sports ground. The "bedroom" in the inner room is more than 60 square meters. It has transparent glass walls and built-in air conditioning. The room temperature is controlled between 10 ℃ and 28 ℃. Through the glass, you can have a panoramic view of the giant panda's every move. Introduction to garden history
In 1951, the people's Government of Hengyang City set up an animal horn in Yueping Park, covering an area of 805 square meters. There are lions, tigers, bears and other beasts on display. The establishment of the organization is a platoon, with 18 employees. The facilities are simple and old, and there are few kinds of animals on display. With the continuous development of Hengyang and the continuous improvement of people's material and cultural living standards, the demand for popular science knowledge of wild animals is higher and higher, which has attracted the attention of Hengyang Municipal People's government.
In 1978, the state invested more than 600000 yuan, and Hengyang City increased the construction investment. In three years, the animal corner attached to Yueping Park was moved from the top of the mountain to the west of the mountain. It was expanded into a large-scale zoo with complete facilities and functions in central and South China. The Park has monkey mountain, birdhouse, beast hall, herbivore hall, fur animal hall, aquarium and Swan Lake , fish pond, lotus pond and other buildings.
On February 16, 1980, the reconstructed Hengyang zoo was officially opened to the public. There are 47 kinds of wild animals on display, including lions, tigers, crocodiles, red pandas, black leaf monkeys and other rare animals. With the development of Hengyang's tourism, Hengyang zoo was established in 1985, which is separate from Yueping park.
In June 2003, Hengyang zoo and Haikou Jinniu zoo signed a cooperation agreement to jointly develop and operate Hengyang zoo. The whole body of Bengal giant lizard is covered with small and protruding round scales, the scales on the back are black, and some scales are mixed with light yellow spots; the head is triangular, and the nostrils are located from the eyes to the center of the snout, showing split eyes; the limbs are thick, and there are sharp claws on the toes; the tail is flat as a belt, about 60 cm.
