Historical evolution
In 1927, at the fifth meeting of the governor's Council of Taiwan, it was decided to set up special schools related to industry on how to popularize industrial education.
In July 1928, because there were already two higher business schools in Taiwan (Taipei higher business school and Tainan Branch of Taipei higher vocational school), the world theory strongly expressed that there were too many. Therefore, the Bureau of culture and Education decided to abolish the "Tainan higher business school" (located in today's Yongfu elementary school) and build a new industrial school.
In 1929, the government of Tainan state granted 52942 Ping as the school site.
In 1931, Tainan higher technical school, the governor's office of Taiwan, was founded in xiaodongmenwai, Tainan City, which is now the successful campus. At the beginning of its establishment, it had mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and applied chemistry.
On March 16, 1931, an entrance examination was held in the University and the Taipei higher business school (located in the Xuzhou Road Campus of today's Taiwan University). A total of 409 students took the examination. On March 23, the admission notice was issued, and 25 students in mechanical engineering, 25 students in electrical engineering and 22 students in applied chemistry were admitted for the first time.
On October 27, 1932, the first school song of Chengda was published.
On March 16, 1934, the first graduation ceremony was held, with a total of 60 graduates and an audience of about 500.
In 1940, the two subjects of mechanical engineering and electrical engineering were increased to two classes, and applied chemistry was not increased. However, the electrical chemistry group was set up as an independent electrical chemistry department, with four subjects and six classes. In the same year, three subjects were added, including civil engineering, architecture and electrical chemistry.
In 1942, it was transformed into "Tainan Industrial School". After the national government received it, the address was "Gongxue road".
In 1944, mechanical engineering was renamed mechanical engineering, electrical engineering was renamed electrical engineering, and applied chemistry was renamed chemical industry. The civil engineering department and the architecture department are added, with a total of six departments in one college.
In February 1946, it was renamed "Taiwan Provincial Tainan Polytechnic College", and in October of the same year, it was upgraded to "Taiwan Provincial Institute of technology", with six departments including mechanical engineering.
In 1956, it was transformed into "Taiwan Provincial Chenggong University", and soon the road was renamed "University Road".
