Huai'an bridge is a control project of the Third Ring Road in Fuzhou. It is a steel-concrete hybrid cable-stayed bridge with double pylons and double cable planes. It is the first large bridge without piers in water in Fuzhou. It crosses the Minjiang River and connects Cangshan District with Gulou District and Minhou County. The total length of the bridge is 640 meters, the main tower is 115 meters high, the main span is 416 meters long, and the bridge deck is 40 meters wide.

Construction process
On March 12, 2003, the construction contract of Huai'an bridge (former Wuhekou bridge and Wuhekou cable stayed bridge) project was signed, and the construction of main pier pile foundation was completed from May to October

In January 2004, Huai'an bridge completed the construction of main bridge platform; on September 8, the main tower was capped; in December, the construction of side span section was started

On August 20, 2005, the closure project of Huai'an bridge was completed
On October 20, the closure project of the main bridge was completed; on November 20, the asphalt pavement of the bridge deck was completed; on December 10, the bridge deck system and all auxiliary systems were completed; on December 20, the project was put into use and opened to traffic

Bridge location
Huai'an bridge is located at the junction of Beijing Hangzhou canal and Yanhe River at Wuhekou, western suburb of Huai'an City, Jiangsu Province, China. It is located at the junction of the abandoned Yellow River system, Huaihe River system and Yishusi river system. It successively crosses Huaishu River, Erhe River, ancient Yellow River, Yanhe River and Beijing Hangzhou canal from north to south
The whole bridge section is a part of Changchun Shenzhen Expressway (the former section of Yancheng Xuzhou and Nanjing Lianyungang Expressway)

Huai'an bridge is composed of three parts: North approach bridge, main bridge and south approach bridge. The main bridge is a prestressed reinforced concrete cable-stayed bridge with double pylons and double cable planes, and the approach bridge is a fabricated partially prestressed reinforced concrete continuous box girder bridge

The main pylon of the main bridge adopts group pile foundation. The main pylon is H-shaped and is a prestressed concrete structure. The rigid framework is set in the pylon to facilitate the binding of reinforcement and the lifting of tower column formwork. The tower column adopts box section, the inner circumferential prestressed tendons are arranged in the anchor cable area of the upper tower column, and the upper beam adopts box section. Ovm250 series low relaxation steel strand cables and corresponding anchorages are used for stay cables. Four layers of protection system are adopted for steel strand cables: the first layer is sprayed with epoxy coating, the second layer is special grease for unbonded reinforcement, the third layer is hot extruded single-layer HDPE sheath, and the fourth layer is integral cable wrapped with HDPE sheath. The approach bridge is divided into left and right bridges, the substructure adopts double column pier, and the abutment adopts rib abutment

Huai'an bridge is located in the Huaihe River basin with dense water network. The surrounding channels, locks, shipyards, hydropower stations and other water conservancy facilities are dense. The engineering conditions of the bridge site are complex
The main construction difficulties are: the surrounding geology of the bored pile foundation of the main pier is complex, and it is difficult to form the pile; the construction period needs to be uninterrupted throughout the year, and the high-performance concrete construction in winter is needed, and the previous experience is insufficient; the design of the main beam and main tower construction formwork system, the pouring method, and the design and implementation of the front fulcrum hanging basket are difficult

The "211 Project" of "two firsts, two rarities and one challenge to the forbidden zone" has been set in the bridge project in China, that is, pouring the largest pile cap of nearly 10000 cubic meters, completing the construction of the first wide and high-grade concrete main beam, carrying out the construction of large number and large diameter super long bored piles, and implementing the rarely complicated geological bored piles.
