The Western cemetery is located on the Western Cemetery Road in Macao, commonly known as the old Western cemetery, compared with the new western cemetery opened later.
brief introduction
Originally known as shengweiji cemetery, it was set up in 1854. At the beginning of the year, it was outside the "city", remote and desolate. In Australia, most Portuguese people returned to heaven and were buried here. Later, with the development of the urban area, it was gradually surrounded by houses and streets, so it was located in the urban area.
Later, a new western cemetery was built in the east of Macao.
appearance
There are many tombs in the cemetery, and they are arranged in order. Many of the ancient tombs are beautiful, inlaid with cross, angel, flower, and figures. In the cemetery, there is a small church built in 1874, which is used for funeral mass. The building is unique. It is dedicated to a God shengweiji who is dedicated to splitting evil and promoting good. He Xian, a famous Macao businessman, was buried here after his death in 1983.
