geographical position
The memorial hall of the founding father of Macao is located at No. 1, Longtian village, Macao, on wendis street, on the side of universal hotel.
Dr. Sun Yat Sen has a close relationship with Macao. The birthplace of Dr. Sun Yat Sen is Cuiheng village, which used to belong to Xiangshan County, only 35 kilometers away from Macao. In July 1892, Sun Yat Sen graduated from the Hong Kong College of Western medicine. In September, he became a volunteer doctor in the Jinghu Hospital of Macao. He founded the Bureau of Chinese and Western medicine, entrusted him to practice medicine and carried out revolutionary activities. The alliance also set up a branch in Macao.
Historical evolution
Originally a two-story building of brick and wood structure, it was built in the seventh year of the Republic of China. With a sum of money left by sun Mei, Sun Yat Sen's elder brother, and donations from the revolutionaries, it became the "Sun Fu" of Lu Muzhen, Sun Yat Sen's first wife. On August 13, 1919, the ammunition depot of Songshan "gunpowder bureau" behind bingtou garden exploded, and "Sunfu" was affected into a dangerous building. The Macao government respected Sun Yat Sen and paid compensation. Sun Ke personally supervised the construction. In the 21st year of the Republic of China, it was rebuilt as the current site, with three floors and five bays. In 1933, it was changed to 1 wendishi street. Lu Muzhen died at the age of 85 in "Sun Fu" on September 7, 1952. "Sun Fu" was rebuilt and opened in April 1958, and Yu Youren inscribed a horizontal plaque "father of the nation Memorial Hall".
Main exhibits
The memorial hall of the father of the nation remains its original appearance, and most of the rooms remain the original layout. The exhibits include articles used by Sun Yat Sen when he was practicing medicine in Macao, furniture used during the uprising in Guangzhou, original manuscripts and living photos of Sun Yat Sen, including group photos with revolutionary martyrs.
architectural composition
The memorial hall is specially set up by Macao people to commemorate Sun Yat Sen. it is a three story, five bay western style building and an Islamic Moorish building. The architectural form is unique, different from the past structure, beautiful shape, elegant and solemn. Surrounded by a short wall, a small garden stands on the left, with a bronze statue of Sun Yat Sen and the four characters "the world is for the public". The bronze statue is a souvenir presented by Sun Yat Sen's Japanese friend Meiwu. It was designed by Japanese sculptor Yoshiya Murata.
Both sides of the iron gate were originally inlaid with the party emblem of the Chinese Kuomintang. After the "12.3" incident, the Macao Municipal Administrative Bureau issued an announcement on January 2, 1967, forbidding the hoisting and display of foreign flags, badges and signs hostile to the people's Republic of China in Macao. The next day, the Macao government sent personnel to the museum to demolish the iron gate and replace it with a specially made iron gate without the logo of the Chinese Kuomintang. However, the national flag of the Republic of China can still be displayed on both sides of Dr. Sun Yat Sen's bust in the exhibition hall, making it the only place in Macao where the national flag of the Republic of China can be displayed publicly.
