The most famous "Jiulong caisson" in Jiulong hall is one of the three treasures of Putuo. The caisson is carved according to the simple and elegant pattern of Jiulong opera beads, with a dragon plate top, eight dragon rings and eight vertical columns flying down.
Jiulong Hall
Jiulong hall, also known as Yuantong hall, is the main hall of Fayu temple. There are more than ten ancient trees in front of the hall, two of which (Ancient Ginkgo biloba and ancient cypress) are high into the sky. The Ginkgo biloba on the west side is about three arms thick, and the trees are more than 500 years old. The dragon and Phoenix cypress on the east side is old, vigorous, curly, and unique in shape. They are the two most famous ancient cypresses in Putuo Mountain.
Decoration design
On the three stone railings in front of the main hall are carved a picture of 24 lines of filial piety, which is taken from the story of 24 filial sons in ancient and modern times compiled by Guo Jujing of the Yuan Dynasty (filial piety is originally a Confucian content, but it is also described in many Buddhist temples). These reliefs have complete composition and smooth lines. They are the best reliefs in Ming Dynasty and have high artistic value.

The base of the eight gold pillars is an exquisite Dragon carving brick, and a glass lamp is suspended in the middle, just like a pearl. It forms a three-dimensional pattern of Jiulong opera beads, with beautiful shape and rough knife technique. It was formed in the early Ming Dynasty, hence the name of Jiulong hall.
