Before the merger

Former Xinjiang University

Xinjiang University is a school with a long history and glorious revolutionary tradition. Its predecessor is Xinjiang Russian law and politics special school founded in 1924.

In August 1928, it was renamed Xinjiang Provincial Russian law and politics school. In September 1930, it was renamed Xinjiang Russian law and Politics College. In January 1935, it was transformed into Xinjiang University. In 1941, the Agricultural School of Xinjiang Provincial Department of construction was incorporated into Xinjiang University.

From 1938 to 1941, a group of educators, artists and progressives, such as Lin Jilu, Du Chongyuan, Mao Dun, Qi Tianmin, Zhang Zhongshi, SA Kongliao, Shi Mei, Gao Tao, Jiang Hao, Tu ye, Zhao Dan, Guo Chunze, successively came to the school as leaders, teachers and lecturers. The school, as its name implies, has become the front of spreading revolutionary truth and the cradle of cultivating progressive youth of all nationalities in Xinjiang.

From October 1950 to 2005, baoerhan, saifuding, Zhang Dongyue, akmu gapar, Ibrahim halik, azati sulidan, anivar amuti, tasipratti teyibai successively held the posts of president and president.

On October 1, 1950, Xinjiang University changed its name to Xinjiang University for nationalities. In November 1953, the veterinary class of Animal Husbandry Department of Northwest University for nationalities was merged into Xinjiang University for nationalities. In 1954, it was renamed Xinjiang University. On October 1, 1960, Xinjiang University was officially established. In 1962, Xinjiang University and Xinjiang Normal University merged. In July 1962, the mechanical, electrical, industrial and electrical engineering majors of Xinjiang University were assigned to Xinjiang Institute of mining and metallurgy.

In 1978, the University was designated by the State Council as the only national key university in Xinjiang. In April 1979, Xinjiang Normal University was set up by the teacher training department and Sanping branch.

In 1994, Comrade Li Lanqing inspected the University and stressed that Xinjiang should concentrate on running Xinjiang University well. Abreti abdurexiti, vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese people's Political Consultative Conference, once served as the honorary president of Xinjiang University, and Simayi tieliwaldi, former chairman of the autonomous region (currently vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress), once served as the honorary president of Xinjiang University.

In 1995, Jiang Zemin, Li Peng, Li Lanqing and other leaders wrote inscriptions for Xinjiang University. In 1997, it was listed as the key construction University of the national "211 Project". In 2000, it was designated as the key construction University of the national western development.

Former Xinjiang Institute of Technology

The predecessor of Xinjiang Institute of technology is the Mining Technology School of Sino Soviet nonferrous metals company established in January 1953.

In January 1955, it was renamed Urumqi mining School of the Ministry of heavy industry. In September 1956, it was renamed Urumqi mining School of the Ministry of metallurgical industry. In July 1958, it was renamed Xinjiang Institute of mining and metallurgy.

In July 1962, the mechanical, electrical, industrial and electrical engineering majors of Xinjiang University were merged into Xinjiang Institute of mining and metallurgy. In May 1966, it was renamed Xinjiang Institute of technology.

After the merger

On October 20, 2000, the Ministry of Education approved the merger of Xinjiang University and Xinjiang Institute of technology to form a new Xinjiang University. On December 30, Xinjiang University and Xinjiang Institute of technology merged to form a new Xinjiang University. In 2004, Xinjiang University was officially incorporated into the "regional and ministerial co construction" University by the Ministry of education of the people's Government of Xinjiang Autonomous Region.

In 2012, Xinjiang University was selected into the national "comprehensive strength improvement project of universities in central and Western China".

In 2013, he was selected into the "excellent engineer education and training plan" of the Ministry of education. On May 3, the school was identified as the first batch of training bases for social work professionals of the Ministry of civil affairs.

On October 17, 2016, the North Campus of Xinjiang University held the commencement ceremony, which was attended by xuekelaiti zaker, deputy secretary of the regional party committee, chairman of the autonomous region and honorary president of Xinjiang University.

In September 2017, Xinjiang University was selected as a world-class university construction University (class B).

In 2018, Xinjiang University was upgraded from "universities jointly built by the Ministry and the province" to the first batch of "universities jointly built by the Ministry and the province", and included in the list of universities directly under the Ministry of education of the people's Republic of China.

In February 2019, the University was recognized by the Ministry of education as one of the first batch of Universities' scientific and technological achievements transformation and technology transfer bases. In August, the University was rated as the national innovation and entrepreneurship typical experience university by the Ministry of education.

In March 2020, the Northwest Minority Research Center of Xinjiang University was selected as one of the first batch of "cast a solid research base of Chinese national community consciousness".

In June, the school of Chinese language and literature, School of history, School of business, School of chemistry and School of chemical engineering of Xinjiang University were founded.
