Geography

Hualian River, xiuguluan River and Beinan River are three major river systems, which occupy the north, middle and south areas of Huadong longitudinal valley. The three river basins are widely distributed and interweaved into a huge network, which not only affects the landscape of the vertical Valley, but also stirs up the human pulse of the vertical valley. Its source is on the high mountains with an altitude of 2-3000 meters, thus forming different geological landforms, such as Canyon, waterfall, hot spring, meander, river terrace, alluvial fan, fault and badland, and creating many unique natural landscapes. Among them, in terms of waterfall landscape, the Luoshan waterfall in the upper reaches of Luozi River in Fuli mountain and the 65 meter high waterfall are the most magnificent. The Ruisui fault is located in the northeast of the sabahe stage, also known as the "Saba fault", with discontinuous strata and nearly vertical gravel layers.

High mountain streams carry a large amount of sand and stone when the water volume rises sharply, resulting in obvious erosion and V-shaped cutting of stream valley. Xiugulan river is a typical example. Because the dagangkou layer of the coastal mountains belongs to marine sediment, which is weak and easy to be eroded, in ancient times, the downstream channel of xiugulan River eroded the coastal mountains, cut into magnificent canyons, and seized the channel of guhualian River, forming a broad channel. Tourists can enjoy the magnificent scenery on both sides of the river while boating here. A similar phenomenon occurred in Xinwu lvxi, which formed the canyons and cliffs along the nanheng highway.

Due to the collision of plates, many faults are formed in the longitudinal valley. In addition, the tributaries of the three major water systems mostly originate from the east side of the central mountains. Due to the steep terrain, high mountains and rapid water, the vertical distance of the streams from the high mountains to the valley is only a few kilometers, but the drop is very large. Therefore, many streams often see a pleasant stream landscape. For example, Luoshan waterfall in Fuli, Fenghuang waterfall in Fenglin and Hongye hot spring are popular with tourists.

Lijiyue world is a typical bad terrain. The Liji layer is widely distributed in the southern end of the coastal mountain range, extending about 70 kilometers northward from the western edge of the coastal mountain range near Taitung City to Lehe near the hot spring in Antong. Its standard exposure site is Liji village, about eight kilometers north of Taitung City. The main body of Liji formation is a thick argillaceous sediment, which is composed of turbidite sandstone and shale or mudstone. The Liji formation has a remarkable feature. The exposed place often forms a bad terrain, which is the lithology of clayey mudstone in the Liji formation. The Liji formation becomes a complex heterogeneous rock mass or many different foreign rock blocks.

Huadong Longitudinal Valley runs along the nine line of the provincial road and Taiwan. It runs through the essence of the two counties of Hualian and Taitung. The 158 km long green corridor is full of green and beautiful mountains. Along the road, there are Eastern trunk railway lines. General Edition

Usually, the Huadong longitudinal valley line is the main route of Taijiu line. In January and February every year, there are several yellow rape flowers on the roadside. The beautiful scenery is unique with the oil green fields and the mountains.

Private version

The more special longitudinal valley riding line is 195 county road parallel to the Taijiu line. There is a place called "rice stack" on the Bank of guoyuemei and Hualian river. Along the way, there are golden and full ears of rice, which is worthy of the name. Further down, there is the century old Sanheyuan, followed by Jianying bridge. Walking up the slope of the bridge, there is a viewing pavilion with a bright view. After the restoration, we went to Hegang, a place rich in Wendan. Wendan tastes delicious around the Mid Autumn Festival. Further down, you come to chunri Town, which is full of Japanese flavor. After chunri Town, you will take the ninth provincial road of Taiwan and enter the hot spring of Antong in Yuli. The long valley of Fuli, Chi Shang and Guan Shan is the essence of longitudinal valley. The big wave pool loop bike drive on the pool (about 15 kilometers, a bicycle ride for about 2 hours) and the Guan Shan bicycle lane (12 kilometers, or nearly 2 hours ride) are the necessary routes. ● reminder: after 195 km, there are many sand and gravel trucks, so special attention should be paid to them. Guanshan bicycle road is the best place to ride in the morning and dusk, and you can feel the quiet beauty of the countryside.
