Park overview
Covering an area of 100 hectares, it was founded in 1979 and is the smallest outlying island country park in Hong Kong.
The park includes eight adjacent islands: qiaozui island is the largest, and Qiaotou Island, Baisha Island, Dachan Island, Xiaochan Island, Zhentou Island, youlongjiao island and Duantou island are the other seven islands. Many people who like fishing go fishing along the coast. Xiamen Bay (Half Moon Bay) on qiaozui island is a popular summer resort. Visitors can take the ferry at Sai Kung market pier to visit the above islands.
ecological environment
Among the eight islands in the park, only the largest island, qiaozui Island, has trees on its hillside, while the other seven islands have few trees. Most of the trees on qiaozui island are native tree species, including camphor tree, Eupatorium odoratum, banyan tree, Casuarina equisetifolia and flaming wood. There are also a few shrubs, such as Myrtle (Myrtle) and Pinus Montana.
The bird species on the island include green heron, white bellied Sea Eagle, cuckoo with four voices, cuckoo with noise, cuckoo with brown wings (hairy chicken), Bulbul with white throats, warbler with fire tail, tit, Starling with black collar, myna, black curly tail, magpie and crow with big mouth. Other kinds of wild animals are very rare, only in the wild boar.
Park facilities
Kiu Tsui Chau beach provides a wide range of facilities for visitors, including public toilets, flushing facilities and barbecue ovens. There are sand banks between the islands to provide convenience for tourists. There are beautiful and dense trees around the beach, and even in the hot summer, there is shade to accompany.
The beach is equipped with shark net, snack booth, barbecue area, changing room, shower equipment, toilet and floating platform, and lifeguards are on duty. It should be noted that there is no fresh water supply on the island, and the water in the shower and toilet is only desalinated seawater. There is also qiaozui beach near the camp in Xiamen Bay, with similar facilities, but fewer swimmers.
It should be noted that the camping area in Xiamen Bay has been cancelled by the SAR Government in recent years, and there is no water supply in the area, so it is not suitable for camping.
famous scenery
Although the highest point of qiaozui island is only 136 meters, there is also a mountain path connecting Xiamen Bay in the South and Haixing Bay in the north, passing Heishan peak and qiaozui Bay.
The beaches are one of the beaches of the leisure and Cultural Services Department. Some sections of the mountain path are steep and difficult to walk, with weeds growing in the middle. You need to have hiking experience to walk. Go to the highest part of the island, and you will see the beautiful scenery of the bay.
The best of Parks
In recent years, qiaozuizhou has become the most popular tide resort in Saigon district. Xiamen bend in the south, with clear water and fine sand, attracts a large number of tide walkers every holiday. It is the most attractive place for tourists in the park. If you want to avoid the crowd, you can choose qiaozui beach in the West. Both beaches are equipped with shark nets and lifeguards are on duty in summer. The rocky shore of the island in the park is also a fishing resort for sandpipers.
A small island near the wharf is called Qiaotou. When the tide recedes, there will be a sandbank connecting qiaozui island and Qiaotou island. Visitors can take this opportunity to explore Qiaotou Island along the sandbank.
Transportation guide
There is no land transportation to qiaotsui country park. It mainly depends on ferry. You can take the street ferry to qiaotsui or Xiamen Bay near Saigon bus terminus.
