There is a master's degree program in foreign languages and literature at the first level, three master's degree programs in English language and literature, foreign linguistics and applied linguistics and world literature and comparative literature at the second level, and a master's degree in translation (MTI). English language and literature major is a provincial key discipline and a national characteristic major. English linguistics course and advanced English course are provincial excellent courses.
The Institute of foreign languages includes Oceania Institute of literature, St. Thomas Institute of education, English Education Center, Latin American cultural research center and German Cultural Education Center.

Over the years, the College of foreign languages has trained a large number of interdisciplinary talents. Nearly 50 undergraduates of the foreign language college have been employed by the Ministry of foreign affairs. Many of them have stepped into leading positions or become important translation backbone of the Ministry of foreign affairs. Dai Qingli, as the representative of the graduates of the Institute, has undertaken the simultaneous interpretation task and on-site translation task of national leaders on major occasions at home and abroad, which has been widely praised. Wu Jia, a graduate of the Institute, is now the economic development officer of the international development agency of the State Department of the United States, and has made positive contributions to promoting the friendship between China and the United States.

In the annual CET-4 and CET-8, the College of foreign languages can become the best in the same kind of colleges because of its students' solid language skills. In 2004, 150 English Majors of Grade 2000 took CET-8 for reference, and the passing rate was 97.97%.
In 2002, Zheng Xiaoju, a student of English Department Grade 99, won the third prize of CCTV Cup English speech contest and studied in the United States; Qi Xin, a student of Russian Department Grade 99, won the first prize of senior group of Russian language and cultural knowledge contest in southern China and was sent to Russia by the Ministry of education in 2003.

For a long time, the Ministry of foreign affairs has designated the Institute as a designated institution for recruiting civil servants of the Ministry of foreign affairs. Department setting
Russian Department
The Department is one of the earliest departments established in Anhui University (1958). It is one of the most influential departments in Anhui Province with many senior professors and strong teaching staff. At the beginning of the "Cultural Revolution" in 1966, the Russian Department suffered a serious impact and stopped recruiting students intermittently for more than ten years. In the domestic and foreign environment is extremely unfavorable to the Russian community, the predecessors of the Russian Department still devote themselves to the cause of Russian with great enthusiasm. During the Cultural Revolution (1978), the Institute of Soviet Studies (later renamed the Russian Institute) was established. He made significant research on the political, economic, social, cultural and educational fields of Russia and CIS countries, and founded the academic journal of Russian Studies. The magazine is in the forefront of similar magazines in China.
With the reform and opening up, the Russian Department resumed enrollment (1993). In order to adapt to the development of the times and the needs of society, the Russian Department has set up basic Russian, advanced Russian, Russian audio-visual speaking, Russian reading, Russian writing, translation theory and practice, Russian literature, Russian language and culture, Russian lexicology, Russian rhetoric, Russian oral language, Russian cultural history, Russian economy and trade, English and other courses.
There are 9 teachers in the Russian Department, including 5 associate professors, 4 lecturers, 1 foreign teacher, 2 doctors and 2 masters. Teachers are constantly enriched and strengthened, teaching experience is increasingly rich, and the level of scientific research is improving.
The Russian Department enrolls 99 students every year (25 for each session). The average passing rate of TEM-4 and TEM-8 in Russian Department is 95% and 90% respectively. In recent years, the average admission rate of graduate students has reached 40%. The Russian Department has also won many awards in the national Russian contest and the Russian language and cultural knowledge contest in southern China.
The Russian Department has established a long-term cooperative relationship with Russian University of Oreal. Teachers and students of the two schools can be sent to each other's schools to study, study or work for one year. Every year, several students of Russian department take part in classes in Russian University.
French Department
Founded in 1974, the French major of Anhui University is the earliest French major in Anhui Province. The college entrance examination was resumed in 1978, and the French department was established in 2008. Over the years, it has provided a large number of high-quality professionals for colleges and universities, foreign economic and trade enterprises, foreign affairs departments and foreign affairs departments in Anhui Province, and has made important contributions to the province's opening up, economic and technological cooperation and development.

One of the characteristics of French language and literature is to use the contemporary western literary theory and methods to study the contemporary French female literature, especially the study of Duras' novels, which has an important position in China; the other is to explore the practical research methods of teaching and translation, and to translate and publish many translated works.
