Hubei Academy of Fine Arts

Founded in October 1965, Hubei Academy of fine arts is a vice department level institution approved by Hubei Provincial People's Government on the basis of the former fine arts branch of Hubei Academy of fine arts. It is the fifth provincial Painting Academy established after Beijing, Shanghai, Jiangsu and Guangdong. It is a comprehensive state-run Painting Academy. Organizationally, it is under the leadership of the Propaganda Department of the provincial Party committee, and professionally under the leadership of the Provincial Bureau of culture (now the Department of Culture). The purpose of the Institute is to adhere to the "two for" direction and the "two hundred" policy, and take "the artistry of the mainstream culture and the modernity of the traditional culture" as the creative theme. At present, Hubei Academy of fine arts has professional creation and research rooms for Chinese painting, oil painting (watercolor, lacquer painting), sculpture, etc.
