In 1927, the Jesuit Church was renamed Hanzhong Church in Nanjing. In 1934, four poles (roads) were widened into Mochou road. Hanzhong hall was demolished and a two-story sermon was built beside it (demolished in 1991 and later completed as Nanjing Christian building). In 1936, pastor Bao Zhong raised money to rebuild Hanzhong hall with 1100 taels of gold, which belongs to Gothic architectural style. The building area is 746 square meters and can accommodate more than 1000 people. Hanzhong hall was designed by elder Chen Yuhua, the younger brother of Chen Yuguang, President of Jinling University. General Feng Yuxiang, a Christian, inscribed the corner stone "because Jesus Christ has laid a good foundation." General Zhang Zhijiang inscribed the plaque of Hanzhong hall. Hanzhong hall held a foundation laying ceremony on the afternoon of August 4, 1936. It was officially opened to the public on October 16, 1938 and was completed in 1942. On December 13, 1937, the Japanese aggressors in China committed the Nanjing Massacre. Hanzhongtang set up a refugee shelter to protect many refugees from being killed by the Japanese army. After the establishment of the church, pastor Bao Zhong was in charge until the founding of new China in 1949.
In 1954, Hanzhong hall was renamed Mochou road hall. In 1958, the church was merged and United worship was implemented. Our church is one of the four churches in Nanjing. Li Jian'an is the pastor of our church. During the cultural revolution, the church was closed and the house was occupied by other units. At the end of 1980, Nanjing municipal Party committee and government vigorously implemented the policy of freedom of religious belief, and our church resumed worship. At that time, pastor Xu Enshi restored the church as it was, according to the memories of the elderly workers.
Famous church leaders and pastors came to our church to preach or worship: bishop Ding Guangxun, Mr. Han Wenzao, Mr. Xu rulei, Vice President Chen Zemin, Mr. Jiang Peifen, elder Ji Jianhong, Mr. Bi Yongqin, pastor fan Peiji, elder Lei Zhibo, pastor Luo Zhenfang, pastor Guo lemu, pastor wang Weifan, Pastor Zhao Zhien, pastor Bao Jiayuan, pastor Lin Dean and pastor wang Xiuxian , pastor wang aiming, pastor Gao Ying, pastor Zhou Yongjian, etc. On November 16, 2006, the church committee was changed. We are running the church well according to the principle of "autonomy, self-reliance and autobiography", strengthening the construction of theological thought, adhering to the principle of loving the country and religion, honoring God and benefiting people, and making contributions to the construction of a harmonious society.
