Hebei Institute of light industry

In 1952, Tianjin paper mill technical school was founded;

The evolution of University

In September 1958, when the college was established, it was under the leadership of Hebei Provincial People's Committee and managed by Hebei Provincial Light Industry Bureau. It was called Hebei Institute of light industry.

In 1959, the main teachers and experimental equipment of the Department of chemical engineering of Tianjin University (formerly Beiyang University) were incorporated into Hebei Institute of light industry.

 

In January 1962, according to the eight character policy of "adjusting, consolidating, enriching and improving" of the central government, Hebei province carried out a comprehensive adjustment and rectification of colleges and universities in the whole province. In 1981, pulp and paper engineering became the first batch of master's degree authorized points approved by the Ministry of education. In 1983, it became the second batch of doctor's degree authorized points approved by the Ministry of education. It is the first doctor's degree authorized point among Chinese students.

In 1998, the management system of the school was changed to the joint construction of the central and local governments, with Tianjin as the main management.

In 2002, with the approval of the Ministry of education, the University changed its name to Tianjin University of science and technology.

In 2004, TEDA campus was put into use.

In 2006, food, biology, marine, chemical, art, science and other disciplines moved to TEDA campus as a whole.
