Qingdao Mosque
Qingdao mosque, rebuilt from a Western-style two-story building, was used as a mosque in 1929. Upstairs is the hall of worship, which can accommodate more than 100 people to worship at the same time. Downstairs is the dean's room, conference room, reception room, etc. The building covers an area of 888 square meters, and there are 4 bathrooms in the hospital. Qingdao Islamic Association is located in the temple.
Historical evolution
Qingdao has a unique charm with "blue sea, blue sky, green trees and red tiles". There are many apartments and villas built by the sea, each with its own style; there are many high-rise buildings in line with the situation. On the high slope of 562 Tong'an road in the city, there is a newly erected Arabian building with white walls and green tiles, five Copper Green domes shining in the sun, and two minarets, the moon tower and the minaret, plunge into the sky. Qingdao, known as the architectural museum, has added a beautiful landscape, which is the Qingdao mosque.
Qingdao is a modern international port city, but it has only been built for more than 100 years. With the opening of the Jiaoji railway, Muslims moved here from other places. In 1928, the two brothers of he family came to Qingdao from Dongping, Shandong Province to do business and settle down. They became the earliest Hui Muslims in Qingdao. In 1929, Ma Fuxiang, a Muslim Muslim warlord in Northwest China, became mayor of Qingdao. Some of his subordinates, entourage and family members of soldiers settled in Qingdao. Before and after the Anti Japanese War, some businessmen came to Qingdao from Beijing, Tianjin and other places to set up jewelry, antiques and other businesses. After the founding of the people's Republic of China, many Muslim soldiers, workers and students came to Qingdao, but they did not form a relative neighborhood. By 1990, there were 2220 Muslims, accounting for about two thousandths of the city's total population. However, as long as there is a certain number of Muslims, there will be mosques. As early as 1929, under extremely difficult conditions, Wang WANYING (Imam), Mu Huating and others launched fund-raising activities and bought a two-story Western-style building at 9 Changzhou Road for renovation. This is the only mosque in Qingdao that has been used for nearly 80 years.
Qingdao is a multi religious city. The Catholic Church on Zhejiang Road and the Christian church on Jiangsu road are famous all over the country for their architectural scale and shape. Zhanshan temple is one of the famous jungles in the north of China. Laoshan Taiqing palace is also famous all over the world. Since the reform and opening up, the economy of Qingdao has developed rapidly, and the number of Chinese and foreign Muslims who come to do business, travel and study abroad has increased greatly. Changzhou Road mosque is small in scale and simple in facilities, which is far from meeting the needs of Muslim's normal religious life. At the second session of the 12th National People's Congress of Qingdao in 2000, 18 deputies jointly proposed a proposal to rebuild the mosque, which attracted great attention of the municipal Party committee and the municipal government. In 2001, they made a decision to "agree to rebuild the mosque". In 2003, the news that the sailing race of Beijing 2008 Olympic Games was held in Qingdao made the people of all ethnic groups in Qingdao more excited. In order to better receive Muslim athletes and coaches from all participating countries, and fully display the image of the host city and China's ethnic and religious policies, under the leadership and support of the government, 15 mu of land with an inch of gold was set aside in Tongan Road, Shibei District to build the temple. At the same time, in order to help solve the problem of funding for the construction of the temple, other religious groups also extended a helping hand and generously helped, writing a new chapter for the national unity and religious harmony in Qingdao. In 2005, the mosque project started. In October 2006, a modern and fully functional mosque was successfully completed. On September 3, 2007, the mosque on Changzhou Road stopped using, and the new mosque on 562 Tong'an road opened to serve Muslims at home and abroad with a new look and attitude.
Scale system
The design of the new temple is unique and ingenious. It combines traditional Chinese classical architecture with arabic architecture. The white walls, green tiles and golden domes complement each other, and the sea and sky connect with each other, making them magnificent and sacred.
The building area of the mosque is more than 4000 square meters, and the main building has two floors. The first floor is the Imam's office, conference room, lecture hall, etc., with complete facilities, reasonable layout, compact but not crowded. On the second floor is a 500 square meter dome shaped worship hall. On the towering dome decorated with white mosaic, there are geometric patterns inlaid with 99 names of the dark green god. The huge crystal lamp is suspended in the center of the dome, shining all over the world, showing the nobility and power of Allah. The mihrab (kiln Hall) is decorated with woodcut scriptures. Minbair (preaching platform) is exquisitely carved. The worshipping blanket is neat and orderly arranged. The floor glass windows make the hall full of light and warm. Walking into the hall, you can feel the modern flavor and vitality of Islam with respect and warmth.
Today, there are tens of thousands of Chinese and foreign Muslims in Qingdao. There are thousands of Muslim noodle shops and large and medium-sized Muslim restaurants alone (in the past, there was only one Muslim porridge shop on Zhongshan Road). Every Sunday, four or five hundred Muslims from home and abroad come to the mosque to gather together, and the number of people on Eid al Fitr and Eid al AdhA can reach five or six thousand. Although they have different nationalities, different skin colors and different languages, they praise Allah with the same action and voice at the same time under the same belief, share the glory and happiness of China's national and religious policies, and truly experience the profound meaning of "all Muslims are brothers".
Under the care of the Municipal People's government, the mosque in Qingdao has been repaired and officially opened on July 22, 1982. In order to strengthen the management of mosques, Qingdao Mosque Management Committee was formed through consultation, and the first committee meeting was held on December 4, 1982. The meeting heard the report of Jin Baoxing, director of the temple management committee, on the restoration work of the mosque, and discussed the division of labor among members and their opinions on future work.
Architectural features
Qingdao is a window city for opening to the outside world. The mosque keeps pace with the times. Under the leadership and management of the temple management committee, the imams actively guide Islam to adapt to the socialist society, and promote social harmony, religious harmony, and national unity. Two projectors are installed in the chapel. When the Koran is quoted, the screen is printed with English, Arabic and Chinese characters. The pictures and texts are vivid. These three languages basically make the vast majority of Muslims understand and understand, which is refreshing and widely praised by people, and has produced good social effects. The mosque has also set up a website of "Ilan incense on the peninsula" to print learning materials of "Muslim Youth Weekly" every week. According to the actual situation and social needs of Qingdao, it has compiled more than 10 kinds of books, picture albums, greeting cards and other publicity materials to correctly, comprehensively and concretely introduce the basic knowledge of Islam. In addition, we also launched a "monthly lecture" activity, that is, a special lecture will be held once a month. People from all walks of life are welcome to participate. Everyone can speak, ask questions, participate in discussions and awards, so that the general public can have a more comprehensive and correct understanding of Islam and mosques.
It is worth mentioning that the slope outside the gate of the mosque is a Muslim public cemetery. The cemetery is planted with cherry trees and grass. The rows of tombs, each of which is built into a rectangle with black marble strips, do not leave any tombs. Regardless of the position, poverty and wealth, the size and specifications are the same, fully reflecting the Muslim spirit of equality. On the walls of cemeteries and on the warning signs of tombs, the teachings of the Koran and hadith are used to explain the Islamic concept of life and death. Here, life and nature are integrated. Death is only a transformation form of life and a new continuation of life. In spring, cherry blossoms are in full bloom and the sea breeze blows. Looking at the majestic mosque, listening to the melodious sound of chanting sutras, the dead in the tomb: sleeping under the cherry blossoms, returning to the truth is peaceful.
