Yingwan garden was rebuilt from qianqianshuiwan hotel. Repulse Bay Hotel was built in 1920, when there was no road to reach Repulse Bay. When the Repulse Bay Hotel was opened, the governor presided over the opening ceremony. Later, it became a popular place for businessmen, politicians, celebrities and gentlemen. It was also a location for numerous novels and movies. During World War II, Repulse Bay Hotel had become a stronghold and hospital of the British army. The hotel was demolished in the early 1990s and rebuilt into a service residence with high-end shops and Terrace Restaurant. The reason why the Terrace Restaurant is famous is that it is the place where the hero and heroine meet for the first time in Eileen Chang's novel love in a fallen city.
