Hangzhou Banshan National Forest Park is located in Banshan street in the northeast of Gongshu District, Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province. In January 2011, Hangzhou Banshan National Forest Park was approved as a national forest park by the State Forestry Administration.

It is composed of Silurian and Devonian feldspar quartz sandstone, quartz sandstone and quartz glutenite. It is about 400 million years ago and has the oldest rock in Hangzhou. The park is located in the southwest corner of the mountain. The trend of the main ridge line is southwest northeast, with high terrain in the middle. The Northeast connects the mountain, and other directions are connected with the plain.
The highest peak of Hangzhou Banshan National Forest Park is Huanghe mountain, with an altitude of 313.3 meters, followed by Banshan mountain, with an altitude of 283.9 meters. The lowest elevation of the park is 15 meters, which is relatively gentle. The soil of Forest Park is mainly red soil and lithologic soil, followed by a small amount of paddy soil. The parent material of red soil is quaternary red soil gravel layer, tuff and granite weathering material, which is the main distribution soil of the park. The parent material of lithologic soil is the primary, residual or slope deposit of various rock weathering bodies, which is only distributed on the mountain top and some steep slopes. Paddy soil is mainly distributed in mountain fields of plain and valley areas.
Climatic characteristics
Hangzhou Banshan National Forest Park is a subtropical monsoon climate zone, which is characterized by four distinct seasons, warm and humid, abundant rainfall and sunshine. The annual average temperature of the park is 16.5 ℃, the extreme maximum temperature is 40.3 ℃ (August 1, 2003), the extreme minimum temperature is - 9.6 ℃ (February 6, 1969), and the annual temperature range is 23.8-24.9. The annual sunshine hours of the park are about 2000 hours, and the sunshine percentage is about 45%. In the midsummer of July and August, the solar radiation is strong and the sunshine is long. The annual average relative humidity and monthly average relative humidity are 75-85%, and the annual average precipitation is 1254.6 mm.

Hangzhou Banshan National Forest Park belongs to Qiantang River water system. There is no obvious tributary of water system in the park, only a small part of mountain stream water, and the flow is different. In addition, there are three artificial reservoirs in the park. The total water area is 4.4 hectares, accounting for 0.4% of the total park area. Longshan reservoir and Hushan Reservoir are relatively large. The area of Hushan Reservoir is about 27000 square meters, with a water storage capacity of about 130000 cubic meters; the area of Longshan reservoir is 5887 square meters, with a water storage capacity of about 30000 cubic meters. Except for the mines that have been closed for about 30 years, the rest of the forests in the forest park are forests, with a coverage rate of 90.1%. The top of the park is dominated by white oak, Quercus brevifolia and Loropetalum chinense.

There are 671 species of wild plants belonging to 440 genera and 143 families, including 34 species of pteridophytes belonging to 24 genera and 18 families, 14 species of gymnosperms belonging to 13 genera and 5 families, 506 species of dicotyledons belonging to 318 genera and 104 families, 117 species of monocotyledons belonging to 85 genera and 16 families, and 158 species of cultivated plants. Among them, there are 5 species of national protected plants, namely Ginkgo biloba, Metasequoia glyptostroboides and Fagopyrum tataricum Wheat, camphor, wild soybean, etc. The forest park vegetation is mainly broad-leaved forest, including deciduous broad-leaved forest, evergreen deciduous broad-leaved mixed forest and evergreen broad-leaved forest. There are also a small number of coniferous forest, shrub forest and economic forest.
Animal resources
There are 8 species of mammals, 30 species of birds, 5 species of reptiles and more than 100 species of insects in Hangzhou Banshan National Forest Park. There are 14 kinds of national key protected animals, all of which are class II protected animals, mainly including pangolin, sparrow eagle, crested eagle, kestrel, carved owl, red horned owl, etc.
Main attractions
Longshan
Longshan is located in the north end of Hangzhou Banshan National Forest Park. It extends to Hushan road in the East, Longshan reservoir in the west, Yishan Road in the South and Banshan Piedmont in the north. The green construction area is about 6.8 hectares. There are well preserved reservoirs, streams, mountains and abundant original ecological vegetation.
Shuizhuju
Shuizhuju is located at the north end of Longshan reservoir in Hangzhou Banshan National Forest Park. Here, the bamboo shadow is whirling and the bird song is graceful and pleasant. It is comfortable and complacent. This pavilion is set up as far as possible without damaging the overall space environment. It is named "shuizhuju" for visitors to rest and sit down.
Ask the woodcutter
Wenqiao is located on the top of the original forest in Hangzhou Banshan National Forest Park. The space here is relatively open, and it is a good place for visitors to rest and gather. A small house is built here, which is named "Wenqiao place".
