The agate temple was first built in the Five Dynasties; in the Song Dynasty, the emperor Yingzong of the Song Dynasty granted the "agate Baosheng courtyard". Today's agate temple is a relic of the Tongzhi period of the Qing Dynasty. The mountain gate, gardens and wing rooms have been preserved to this day. It is surrounded by newly restored pavilions and pavilions, decorated with lotus ponds and paved with green bricks. It has a great charm. There is also a thousand year old camphor in the temple. Standing here 1600 years ago, the tree can not only shade, but also send out a faint fragrance. It can be regarded as the most precious souvenir of the agate temple. If you climb to the top of the courtyard, you can also see the scenery of the West Lake.
Today, the agate temple is also a memorial hall for Lianheng, which displays many works and deeds of Lianheng, as well as many local customs and arts and crafts of Taiwan, so that you can learn more about Taiwan.
Agate Temple
The agate temple in Hangzhou is located on Geling road in the middle of Beishan street along the West Lake in Hangzhou. The whole temple is rebuilt on the former site. It is close to mountains and rivers and covers an area of 15000 square meters. The existing old buildings are the remains of the Tongzhi period of the Qing Dynasty (1862-1874), mainly including the mountain gate, wing room and garden. The main hall has disappeared, only the ruins. The newly restored buildings include pavilions, platforms, buildings, pavilions, corridors, etc. Among them, the curved path of round gate, the flower bed of lotus pond and the green brick paving are all copied according to the original. The ancient trees in the courtyard are shaded, and an ancient camphor outside the gate is 1600 years old. On the top of the courtyard, you can also see the beautiful scenery of the West Lake.
Brief introduction to the temple
From the gate into the agate temple, there are five West Chamber rooms on the left and three East Chamber rooms on the right. Then turn north and enter another courtyard. It is said that this is the former site of the main hall in the past, and there are more than 20 "drum" on the green brick floor. After the renovation of the courtyard, basically according to the original layout, pavilions, lawns, flower beds, winding paths. At the east end of the main hall, there are two stories of servant building with cornices and angles, which is quite a classical garden in the south of the Yangtze River. There is a small pavilion in front of the building, which is called "servant Pavilion". Next to Pufu building, there is a flowing water. According to the introduction, this is "Pufu spring". There is a record in the West Lake dream by Zhang Dai in the Ming Dynasty that "the monk Fangzhou's servant got the spring by means of bamboo, so it was named servant spring". Over the Pufu spring, looking up, there are several Chimonanthus praecox trees in the courtyard. One of them is curly and rich in posture. It is the plum tree known as "king of Chimonanthus praecox in West Lake". Its annual rings are over 100 years old.
