Fengshan Tiangong Temple
Fengshan Tian Gong temple is located in the "Fengshan Temple of heaven" in Guangming Road, Fengshan District, Kaohsiung. It is officially called the "Jade Palace of Feng Yi". But the local people are used to call it "the temple of heaven", the thriving center of the emerging area, that is, the Second District of Fengshan. Although the temple's history is not longer than that of Shuang Tzu Ting, Longshan temple, Town God's Temple and Kai Zhang temple, it is not included in the four ancient times in Fengshan district. In particular, on the ninth day of the first month of the lunar calendar, the Yuhuang God Christmas (commonly known as "tiangongsheng"), the income from incense in the first few days is equal to that of other temples for a whole year, which causes traffic congestion in xinxingli, Fengshan District.
It is said that Tiangong temple was built in the Jiaqing period of the Qing Dynasty, but the exact age is not known. At the beginning of its construction, the temple was made of woven grass grass. In the third year of Xianfeng (1853 AD), it was rebuilt into a temple with tile roof by linjianghe. During the period of Japanese occupation, Lin Jingguan, a scholar of the former Qing Dynasty, was in charge, and then Lin chaomu took over.
In 1948, it was decided to rebuild the temple gate from east to west to west. Later, in 1970, under the leadership of Guo Dinglu, the first chairman of the management committee, the construction of the second-class temple was started in the first month of 1972. The main hall was moved to the second floor to worship the Jade Emperor. The back hall was called "three religions hall" to worship the leaders of Confucianism, Taoism and Buddhism. The first floor was dedicated to worship Wudou Xingjun, and a library was set up. It ended in December 1975 It took four years to complete the new palace temple.
The purpose of Tiangong temple is to "base on the spirit of Confucianism, spread the ideas and doctrines of Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism, persuade people to be good, and conduct social charity". Therefore, the temple provides grants to students at all levels of schools in the city every year. Besides being enthusiastic about local culture and education and social welfare, it also actively participates in charitable disaster relief and reconstruction donation activities, It not only makes Fengshan Tiangong temple a local belief Center for worshiping the Jade Emperor, but also enjoys a good reputation in Taiwan.
