Lingshanren site is located in Ma'anshan, Lanchong village, Sanhai Township, Lingshan County. The mountain is a solitary karst peak, shaped like a saddle. There are three caves at the foot of the mountain: dongshengyan, pudiyan and duanduanyan. In 1960, Jia Lanpo, Gu Yumin and Gu Yan of Guangdong normal college, Kaogu team of Guangdong cultural relics administration committee and Institute of paleovertebra and Paleoanthropology of Chinese Academy of Sciences discovered a tympanum of temporal bone, two teeth and a left upper femur in dongshengyan, and a parietal bone and three frontal bones in pudiyan. The fossils of bears and calcified snails were also found in dongshengyan, and the fossils of Chinese rhinoceros, wild boar, deer and cattle were found in pudiyan. Experts identified it as a human bone fossil at the end of Pleistocene. It is named the site where the lingshanren fossil was unearthed. In addition, one parietal bone, one acetabular bone, one upper molar tooth and two plate teeth were unearthed from the hongkudong ancient human site in Shibei mountain, representing the elderly individuals and belonging to the Paleolithic age. Ten skulls, 70 teeth, one hip bone, one perforated stone bead and some reticulated and corded pottery pieces were found at the Huayan cave site in zhongxiushan, Shitang township. They were identified as Neolithic human bones.
