Dongguan central square is located in the core area of Dongguan administrative and cultural center. It is a comprehensive square integrating administrative office, culture and leisure. The new urban central area was tendered in April 2003 and started construction in May. The construction task was basically completed in just over seven months. It was officially opened to the general public on January 18, 2004.

Brief introduction to the square

Dongguan central square is located in the core area of Dongguan administrative and cultural center, which is a comprehensive square integrating administrative office, culture and leisure. With the theme of blue belt, green belt and light belt, the design is equipped with waterscape and night view, which is the environmental boutique of the new urban center.

The square is 1400 meters long from north to South and 250 meters wide from east to west, covering an area of 330000 square meters. Hongfu Road, the main road in the middle, is divided into administrative square and cultural square. Among them, the administrative square in the north is 120000 square meters, the Cultural Square in the south is 175000 square meters, and the surrounding park green space is also included. The central square covers an area of about 1.02 million square meters, of which the green area is about 340000 square meters. Four characteristics

One is symbolic. The environmental art of the central square pursues the perfect unity of natural ecology and artificial landscape, and highlights the artistic conception of harmonious coexistence between man and nature. The square is ingeniously planted with trees, the greening rate of the whole square reaches 33.4%; the water surface area is 75000 square meters, forming a natural and cultural landscape of water scenery, flowers and trees, lakes, pavilions and corridors, and connecting with Yuanmei Park in the south, forming a unique contiguous urban forest in Dongguan.

Fourth, openness. It is a major feature of Dongguan Central Plaza to fully embody the purpose of "people-oriented". Main buildings

Exhibition hall: covering an area of 30000 square meters and a building area of 26000 square meters, it was put into use in June 2004. Yulan Grand Theater: it covers an area of 36000 square meters and a building area of 44000 square meters. It was put into use in January 2006. The main body of the theater building is a spiral cone with novel, dynamic appearance and dancing charm, just like a graceful ballet dancer. The theater is equipped with Opera Hall, experimental theater and other supporting service facilities, and the equipment is of international advanced and domestic first-class level. The Opera Hall is mainly used for opera and large Symphony performances. It has 1600 seats, including pool seats, balcony seats and so on, covering an area of 2350 square meters. The experimental theater is mainly used for chamber music, with 400 seats, including pool seats and VIP seats, covering an area of 950 square meters. Yulan Grand Theater is another landmark project in Dongguan City.

Library: covers an area of 2.7 hectares, with a building area of 45000 square meters. It opened in June 2005, with a total collection of 4.5 million books, 3000 reading seats and 3000 network nodes. It adopts advanced electronic reading, audio-visual and retrieval systems, security and technical prevention systems, automatic fire alarm and fire linkage control systems and other intelligent systems. Algal bloom in artificial lake

In October 2012, the newly renovated artificial lake in Dongguan central square was overgrown with green algae.
