--Yeliu Geopark is a headland extending out to the sea from Datun mountain. It is about 1700 meters long. Yeliu rock is the main attraction here. It is one of the wonders of the world.
--Wave erosion, rock weathering, relative movement of sea and land, crustal movement and other geological processes produce rare topography and geological landscape, which is of great ornamental and research value.
--In addition to the unique geology and rocks, there are many kinds of seabirds that inhabit on the seashore.
Yehliu Geopark
Yehliu Geopark is located in Wanli District, Xinbei City, Taiwan. Yehliu is a promontory (Tatun mountain system) protruding from the sea. It is about 1700 meters long. Due to the effects of sea erosion, weathering and crustal movement, it has created a series of unique landscapes, such as sea erosion caves, honeycomb stones, candlelit stones, tofu stones, mushroom rocks, potholes and dissolution plates.
Historical evolution
Taiwan is surrounded by the sea on all sides. The beautiful coastal landscape presents different scenery with different geographical locations. Yeliu Geopark, located in Wanli District, Xinbei City, is a famous Geopark in Northern Taiwan. Wanli district is a long and narrow promontory protruding from the north coast. After millions of years of erosion and weathering, it has gradually formed geological wonders such as mushroom stone, Candlestick stone, ginger stone, pot hole, chessboard stone and sea erosion cave, making the 1700m long promontory the most famous Geopark in Taiwan. In addition, the rich marine ecology, fishing village customs and other multiple landforms make Yeliu a famous tourist attraction with deep education, sightseeing and recreation functions.
Yeliu is also the first stop for migratory birds to move south to Taiwan, and one of the last places to rest when they return to Taiwan. Every year when the birds migrate to the South and return to the north, especially in March, April and October, they are the places that can not be missed. Among them, white browed witch, yellow throated witch, Dai Sheng, Shoudai bird, yellow browed warbler, black grey crane, blackbird and other rare birds are more talked about. The wild willow is a promontory extending out to the sea from the remaining veins of Datun mountain. Due to the perennial erosion of sea waves, rock weathering and crustal movement, it has created various unique landscapes.

Scenery in the park
Yeliu Geopark can be divided into three areas.
Zone one
The first area is the main concentration area of mushroom rock and ginger stone. In the first area, we can see the development process of mushroom rock, and there are abundant ginger stone, cleavage, pot hole and dissolution plate. The famous Candlestick stone and ice cream stone are also located in this area.
Zone 2
The landscape of the second area is similar to that of the first area, which is mainly composed of mushroom rock and ginger stone, but the quantity is less than that of the first area. The famous Queen head, dragon head stone and diamond are all located in this area. In the second area, close to the seaside, there are three kinds of rocks with special shapes, named elephant stone, fairy shoes and peanut stone. The three are special shaped nodules in the rock strata, which protrude from the small landscape of the seaside after seawater erosion.
Zone 3
The third area is the sea erosion platform on the other side of Yeliu, which is narrower than the second area. One side of the platform is close to the cliff, and under the other side is the surging waves. Many strange rocks can be seen here during the period of scattering. Among them, the more special ones are twenty-four Xiaoshi, Zhushi and malingniao stone, all of which are special shaped nodules. After seawater erosion, they present strange rocks. In addition to the natural scenery of strange rocks and rocks, the third area is also an important ecological conservation area in Yeliu Geopark.
The development of mushroom shaped stones has been going through thousands of years. Each stone looks like a big mushroom, which is the most eye-catching scenery of Yeliu. Xuanzhuangshi in Yeliu Geopark is also called qingzhushi because it looks like a giant mushroom. There are more than 180 xuanzhuangshi in Yeliu Geopark, which completely records the development process of mushroom.
Queen's head
Queen's head is a business card of Taiwan's tourism industry. Mushroom shaped stone is the most representative landscape of Yeliu. In particular, the graceful and noble form of "Queen's head" has long become a symbol of Yeliu Geopark. The Queen's head itself is a mushroom like stone, and its formation reason is roughly the same as other mushroom like stones. Because of its slender neck, beautiful facial lines, look like a very high head sit in the noble Queen, we call it "Queen's head". Scientists predict that the neck of the Queen's head will become thinner and thinner due to sea water, wind, rain and other natural phenomena, and will be broken around 2040. Therefore, it is the most representative scenery of Yeliu Geopark.
