Qingliangshan is the birthplace of journalism in New China. During the Yan'an period, Qingliangshan used to be the seat of many news organizations, such as the central party newspaper Committee, the central publishing department, Xinhua news agency, Jiefang Daily, and so on. Bogu, Lu Dingyi, Yang Song, Yu Guangsheng and other revolutionaries of the older generation all lived and fought here. At that time, under the direct leadership of the Party Central Committee, the news fighters actively spread Marxism Leninism and Mao Zedong thought, publicized the party's line, principles and policies, and made indelible contributions to the victory of the Chinese revolution, thus making the journalism of new China move from Yan'an to the whole country and the world. Qingliangshan is also affectionately known as the "news mountain". There are more than 100 caves in the former site of Qingliangshan, including the former office sites of Xinhua news agency, Jiefang Daily, Yan'an Xinhua radio station and the former residence of the older generation of journalists. From May 1941 to March 1947, Jiefang Daily was set up on Qingliang mountain in Yan'an. At the former site, there are four big characters engraved with "Jiefang Daily" written by Mao Zedong, 10 hole stone cave in editorial department, stone cave and earth cave where Bogu, Lu Dingyi and Yang Song lived. In May 2006, the former site of Qingliangshan revolution was announced by the State Council as a national key cultural relic protection unit. The maintenance and protection of some of the former sites has also been included in the "No.1 Project" of the patriotic education base of the Propaganda Department of the CPC Central Committee. It has started this spring and will be completed by the end of this year. It will become a new highlight of the patriotic education base. According to reports, in order to inherit and carry forward the "Qingliangshan style" of self-reliance and hard struggle cultivated by the older generation of journalists, and make Qingliangshan a lively classroom for revolutionary traditional education, Shanghai Jiefang Daily newspaper group will pay for the restoration of the interior furnishings of the 16 hole cave. Previously, Xinhua had invested twice to repair and restore the old site of Xinhua in Qingliangshan, and opened it to tourists.
