Mengji Museum

Mengji museum is an exhibition hall with the theme of Xishuangbanna's historical and cultural display, which focuses on the long history and splendid national culture of Xishuangbanna. Mengji museum is located in the scenic area, 4 kilometers from Jinghong to Menghan highway. It is named because it is located within the scope of the site of Mengji Palace Museum. The exhibition hall adopts the combination of indoor and outdoor, covering a total area of about 1000 square meters, of which the indoor area is about 480 square meters, divided into 10 exhibition halls, and the outdoor is a courtyard of about 520 square meters. Mengji museum is a national cultural tourism project jointly planned by Xishuangbanna cultural and Sports Bureau and Yunnan primate center, a laboratory animal of China. With the strong support of Xishuangbanna State Party committee, state people's Congress, state CPPCC, state government and State Tourism Administration, it was completed and opened on April 6, 2005. There are more than 1000 precious cultural relics on display in the museum, including 51 seals of chieftains, more than 100 articles for chieftains and other government affairs, more than 150 unique silver handicrafts of the Dai royal family, more than 200 pieces of tapestry with fine workmanship and distinctive patterns, more than 100 sets of ancient ethnic costumes, religious articles, ethnic production and daily necessities, and folk goods There are three national first-class cultural relics, two second-class cultural relics and 41 third-class cultural relics. The earliest cultural relics date back to the Eastern Zhou Dynasty. Mengji museum is the only exhibition hall with the theme of Xishuangbanna's history and culture. It has far-reaching significance for the prosperity of Xishuangbanna's long history and splendid national culture. It not only provides people of all ethnic groups in the prefecture, but also provides tourists with a comprehensive window to understand Xishuangbanna's history and culture. For many years, Xishuangbanna has not had a place to systematically and intuitively introduce the history, nationality, traditional culture, traditional art and traditional life and customs of Xishuangbanna. Mengji Museum makes up for this vacancy. Tourism is the carrier of culture, and culture is the soul of tourism. Xishuangbanna tourist attractions are mostly tropical rain forest or rainforest plants, lack of historical and cultural connotation.
