Xilai Temple

As night fell, they did not drive him away. So someone opened the bag and found that it was full of silver, about 9000 taels. After getting the silver, we speeded up the progress and built more halls. When the temple was named after its completion, people thought that it would be difficult to complete the temple without the capital from the West. Today, the completion of the temple is actually funded by the West. So it was named "Xilai Temple". Another legend says that someone found a bronze Buddha by the river and built a temple for it, especially called "Xilai Temple". Xilai temple covers an area of 2184 square meters. The temple is large-scale, simple and elegant. It is a typical Chinese Buddhist temple among the well preserved ancient temples in Qinghai. The main building in the temple is built on the central axis facing south, which is composed of the mountain gate, the central hall, the main hall and the East-West two chamber hall. The courtyard is shaded by green trees, with the red eaves and stone green arches in the corridor of the Buddha Hall. The gate is 3 wide and 1 deep. The middle is the porch, and the East and West are the four clay statues. Entering the gate is the front yard, facing the gate is the middle hall, and the East and west sides are the hall. The hall and hall are hard mountain buildings, and the middle hall is mainly for Amitabha. The main hall is 5 rooms wide and 3 frames deep. It stands on the platform with a single eaves on the top of the mountain. In the hall, there are three Buddhas, Sakyamuni in the middle, Manjusri and Maitreya on both sides, Ananda, Kaya, disciple and bhikkhu. There are four Bodhisattvas on the East and West gables. The whole wall surface is embossed with landscapes, figures, buildings, trees, rare birds, exotic animals, etc. The temple is well preserved. Xilai temple is now the Ledu County Museum of history and cultural relics, displaying the precious cultural relics collected and unearthed in Ledu area, as well as 24 scroll Buddha paintings of Ming Dynasty left by the original temple.
