Mu Ru Temple

Muru temple is not big, and it is not as well-known as Jokhang Temple, sera temple and other big temples. Few foreign tourists go to it. However, to really experience the original Lhasa, it is also a place to go. Muru temple was built in the 7th century AD and has a history of more than 1000 years. Its predecessor is Muru Ningba behind the Jokhang Temple. Because the space around muruningba was too narrow to develop, it was later rebuilt here. In the past, muruningba was the main temple and muruningba was the branch temple. After the expansion of muruningba, muruningba was the main temple and muruningba was the branch temple. Today, muruning is jointly managed by three temples, namely, Naiqiong temple, Gongga temple and Muru temple.

Mu Ru Temple

There are two new and old buildings in Lhasa. The old Muru temple is located in the northeast of the Jokhang Temple. During the Tubo Period, it belonged to the Ningma sect of Tibetan Buddhism. Xinmuru temple was built in the period of the fifth Dalai Lama, also known as "mulu Temple".

Brief introduction to temples

Xinmuru Temple faces south. It is 102 meters long from north to south, 85 meters wide from east to west, 97 meters wide from back, covering an area of 8925 square meters. There are more than 300 houses. The front of the temple is low and the back is high. The front of the temple is the monk's house, and the back is the main hall. The first half of the main hall is the Sutra hall, and the second half is the Buddha Hall. The hall is 9 wide and 7 deep. There are three Buddha halls. The middle Buddha Hall is nearly square, 11 meters long and 10 meters wide, with an area of 110 square meters. The area of Buddhist temples on both sides is small. There are three layers in the East and south of the temple. The first layer is 3.5 meters high, the second layer is 2.4 meters high, and the third layer is 2.7 meters high. In the west side, there are two rows of South-North monasteries with a narrow courtyard between them, and in the East, there is a row of South-North monasteries. Every year, from December 23 to 29 of the Tibetan calendar, a grand annual festival is held in Muru temple, where dancing gods and dancing Muru Guduo are held. At present, the temple is the Sutra printing Hall of the Tibetan Buddhist Association.

Secret court

Muru temple has two secret temples, the upper one and the lower one. 50 meters from Muru temple to Potala Palace is Xiami temple, also known as mulu temple, Mairu temple and muruningba. It means an ancient temple. One of the famous "Three Dharma kings" in Tubo Period, chirebajin Zanpu strongly advocated the development of Buddhism. In 817, he established six small sutras halls around Jokhang Temple, of which the East five are today's Muru temples There are about tens of thousands of wooden engravings of the Tibetan version of the great Tibetan scriptures ganzhur and danzhur, which have been published since the fifth Dalai Lama. In addition, there are also wooden engravings of the Tibetan scriptures ganzhur, which were published by the famous Tibetan Buddhist guru gaoabhi xirao Jiacuo during the 13th Dalai Lama's period. It is said that there were many books about ganzhur at the beginning of the destruction of Buddhism by the Tibetan king longdama Banzhida, an Indian monk, once practiced the God of wealth in the Muru temple, but after months of practice, it failed. So, the exasperated Banzhida knocked the belly of the God of wealth with a Buddhist pillow. At this time, gold flowed from the belly of the God of wealth. Therefore, Banzhida respectfully rebuilt the statue of the God of wealth in kasabari. It is said that for this reason, the Tibetan king landama, who wantonly destroyed Buddhism, closed Sangye at that time Temple and other temples' but there is no closed wooden temple.
