Jiutiandong is developed in the Ordovician limestone strata of Paleozoic in geological age. The sedimentary strata of the limestone system are marine facies. Its generation age is 440-500 million years ago, but the formation history of Jiutiandong is only about one million years. Jiutian cave is 518 meters long and 5-18 meters high, with a journey of about 1.2 kilometers. The structure of the cave is very stable, and there are 37 types of chemical accumulation in the cave, including 7 rare types Large area of spherical and acicular crystals, moon milk stone, stone flower and stone lotus are known as the "four wonders of nine days". It is the karst cave with the most rare landscape types in China, and the largest area of stone flower. It has important scientific and ornamental value. In 1944, Professor Chen Shicai of Chinese Academy of Sciences identified Jiutian cave as "the largest Shihua Cave in China"; in 1999, Professor Lu Yunting of Beijing Normal University identified Jiutian cave as "China karst cave fine landscape Museum"; in 2001, Professor Lu Yunting of Beijing Normal University identified Jiutian cave as "China Karst cave fine landscape Museum" Professor Zhu Xuewen, President of the Cave Research Association of the Chinese Geological Society, thought after scientific investigation that "the stone flower of Jiutian cave is unparalleled at home and abroad for its various types and vast area", and called it "the first stone flower cave in the world".
Tourism characteristics
Yiyuan Jiutian cave is located in Tumen Town, 18 kilometers northwest of Yiyuan County. There are nine large cave halls in the cave, and the landscape can be beautiful with the heavenly palace in Chinese mythology, so it gets its name. Jiutian cave is a single corridor inflow cave with a total length of 518 meters. There are abundant secondary chemical deposits in the cave, especially the pond deposits and various stone flowers. Its later large-area non gravity water deposits are famous all over the world.
The area of stone flowers in the cave accounts for more than 60% of all chemical sedimentary types, which is called "the largest stone flower cave in China" by Professor Chen Shicai of Institute of geology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. All kinds of stone flowers are based on stone corals. They are needle shaped, ball shaped, grape shaped, Bush shaped, mushroom shaped, mushroom shaped, crystal shaped and so on. Most of them are still growing. They are pure in texture, exquisite in combination, noble and delicate. Under the colorful lights, they look like a heavenly palace garden in its prime.
Jiutian cave is located in the valley of igneous rock and sedimentary contact zone. It is surrounded by Ordovician limestone, which was formed about 400 million years ago. The cave is 518 meters long, 5-18 meters high, and the journey is about 1.2 kilometers The structure of the cave is very stable, and the types of chemical accumulation in the cave are very rich. Among them, a large area of spherical and acicular crystals, moonmilk stone, Shihua and Shilian are known as the "four wonders of nine days", which is the largest Shihua Cave group in China, and also known as "the first Shihua Cave in the world".
Development
Jiutian cave was officially opened to tourists in 1993 and has been developed and constructed for three times. There are 18 cave halls with a length of more than 1200 meters, a journey of more than 3000 meters and more than 300 main scenic spots. Jiutiandong is located in the valley of igneous rock and sedimentary contact zone. The surrounding rock of the cave is Ordovician limestone with an age of about 400 million years. The stone flowers in the cave are distributed in large scale and in many varieties. There are four areas of unique scenery and eight rare stones.
Large area of needle and spherical crystal, large area of ice cream, stone flower, curly stone, stone ice cream, stone plate, stone lotus, stone Ganoderma lucidum, stone goose tube, bamboo stone, edge stone dam and other rare landscapes of chemical deposition type. Chen Shicai, an expert in tourism Cave Research and Professor of Chinese Academy of Sciences, has identified it as the largest Shihua Cave group in China.
The third phase of the project, which was opened in 1999, has been appraised as China karst cave fine landscape Museum by Professor Lu Yunting of Beijing Normal University.
