structure
The ancient castle of De'an was built by Xu Shangguan, one of the three richest men in datong'an by a famous scholar of Wufeng in Qianlong period of Qing Dynasty. It has a history of 300 years. The walls inside and outside the castle are made of cobblestones. It is a unique cobblestone castle in the world, standing towering among five mountains. From the perspective of folk geomantic omen, the castle is close to mountains and rivers, belonging to the carp cave. It is an excellent geomantic omen treasure. Its inner and outer circles are 35 meters long, 9.6 meters high, and the stack wall is 1.4 meters high. The whole wall is built by the stream stone, with a 2-meter wide ring gallery. When it was built, there were 99 rooms on three floors. It was a place for clans to live together. It could hold three to five hundred people. The wall was 4 meters thick. There were only two arched stone gates in the north and south, with fire and anti-theft facilities. It is indestructible and remains of the time are still preserved. During the Anti Japanese war in 1932, the 19th Route Army of the Red Army had been stationed in De'an castle for several months, but during the cultural revolution of the last century, the main body of the castle had been seriously damaged, leaving only the outer walls and ring corridors. In 2003, Mr. Xu Musheng and other descendants of the Xu family began to renovate the old castle named De'an.

The word "Jueyuan" was carved on a stone tablet excavated by Xu Shangguan, the owner of the "De'an Castle" in the Qing Dynasty, when he repaired the "De'an Castle". It is said that Guan Gong's court worship hall is named "Jueyuan". The word "Jue" of "Jueyuan" is the abbreviation of "Guansheng emperor Jueshi Sutra". The word "Yuan" refers to the court worship hall.
Guansheng Dijun Jueshi Zhenjing, also known as Jueshi Pian and Jueshi Baoxun, is an instruction written by Guandi. The full text is more than 640 words. The main purpose of the work is to emphasize that the world should be loyal, filial and righteous, so as to know how to change the past. When the book was finished, Emperor Kangxi himself made the preface, which was also covered with a mysterious and awe inspiring color. This is a great awakening to Xu Shangguan, the owner of "De'an Castle", who has always respected "Guan Gong" and studied martial arts in Shaolin Temple from the age of 6 to 16. Xu Shangguan, who was rich at that time, realized that "the amount of wealth does not represent the enrichment of a person's spirit. Only by cultivating morality and purifying a person's soul can he live and work in peace and contentment.". This is also the meaning of Xu Shangguan's naming the ancient castle "De'an" (the word "de" in "De'an" means "cultivate moral character" and the word "an" means "live and work in peace"). Therefore, in order to revitalize the family and let the whole family "cultivate moral character", Xu Shangguan specially set up Guan Gong's chapel in the south of "De'an Castle", named "Jueyuan". "Jueyuan" is not only a worship hall for the whole family, but also a family rule to manage the people of the Xu clan who live in the old castle of De'an with the help of Guansheng Dijun Jueshi Sutra. It aims to let the whole family cultivate Guansheng Dijun Jueshi Sutra wholeheartedly and improve their moral character, so as to tell the whole family that only by doing good and eliminating evil, being loyal and righteous, can they unite as one and live happily Industry.
And because Guan Gong is the Dharma protector of Buddhism, the Kalan Bodhisattva. "Kalan" is the general name of the temple's ashram. Guan Gong means the patron saint of the land of Kalan. It is said that master sophist, the founder of Tiantai Sect in the Sui Dynasty, once entered Ding at Yuquan mountain in Jingzhou. In Ding, he heard from the air: "return my head! Give me back my head It turned out that Guan Yu's head was cut off by the enemy. He was angry and looked for his head everywhere. The wise master asked: "if you have killed so many people, who will return their heads?" He also talked about Buddhism. At the moment, Guan Yu felt ashamed, and asked the wise master to teach him three conversions and five commandments. He became an official Buddhist disciple and vowed to be the Dharma protector of Buddhism. Since then, this hero who has been highly respected by the Chinese people for more than a thousand years, Jialan Bodhisattva and Weituo Bodhisattva are the great Dharma protectors of Buddhism. They are called the two great Dharma protectors of Buddhist temples together with Weituo Bodhisattva. Jialan Bodhisattva is the right Dharma protector and Weituo Bodhisattva is the left Dharma protector. In the daily morning and evening classes in the Taoist temple, we will recite "Galan Zan": the leader of Galan, who is powerful in the temple, inherits the Buddha's imperial edict and loses all sincerity; he supports the Fawang City, who is Han and Ping, and the Fancha is always peaceful. In order to appreciate the great merits and virtues of Dharma protection and teaching of Kalan Bodhisattva.
Today, Jueyuan academy is located in the east of the castle and beside the stream. history
It is said that Xu Shangguan, the owner of De'an castle, went to Shaolin Temple to practice martial arts when he was 6 to 16 years old. After learning martial arts, he returned to Wufeng village and was chased and killed after fighting with people of his surname in Wufeng village. Later, he was afraid of being found by people of his surname, so he quickly picked up some pebbles and ran to Nanyang to become a martial arts coach in a martial arts school. He did not dare to go back to his hometown for several years. When he was abroad for the fifth Spring Festival, Xu Shangguan was really homesick, so he took out the pebbles he had with him to understand his homesickness. Unexpectedly, he was seen by the old head of the martial arts school. So the old head of the martial arts school told him that he had seen these pebbles before. Were they from Xijian, Wufeng village, Xiamen? Xu Shangguan was surprised and asked the old librarian how to know? After learning that Xu Shangguan was a native of Wufeng village, the old librarian was pleasantly surprised. He told Xu Shangguan that he had been a bandit in Wufeng village in Xiamen. He also saw that Xu Shangguan was honest and willing to work. In order to fulfill his wish, the old librarian told Xu Shangguan that he was too old to walk. When he was a bandit, he buried "nine carts and eighteen donkeys" under a big tree in a mountain of Wufeng village, Ask Mr. Xu to go back to his hometown immediately to find his old friend, the old curator of Tong'an county. First, keep Mr. Xu safe, and then go to dig for gold and silver to live a good life. After returning to his hometown, Xu Shangguan dug up the gold and silver treasures according to the old Curator's instructions and built the De'an building. Since then, there has been a legend that Xu Shangguan got rich by picking up pebbles in Wufeng village. Therefore, there is a beautiful legend that "stones come to work". In addition, Xu Shangguan, the owner of "De'an Castle", who once studied martial arts in Shaolin Temple and was deeply influenced by Buddhism, naturally had a awakening from his dream.
It can be seen that Xu Shangguan named Guan Gong's worship hall "Jueyuan", and used "Guansheng Dijun Jueshi Sutra" as a typical family rule; he also used "Guansheng Dijun Jueshi Sutra" as a chapter of family "moral cultivation", forming the echo relationship between "Jueyuan" and "De'an", thus realizing the "De'an" meaning of "De'an Castle". This can't help saying that Xu Shangguan, the owner of "De'an Castle" in those days, was a sage with great wisdom.
