Chengdu Zoo is located between the second ring road and the Third Ring Road in the north of Chengdu City, Sichuan Province, on the right side of Chuanshan Road, close to Zhaojue temple bus center station, facing the wall of Zhaojue temple in the west of Sichuan Province, 4 km away from the city. The whole garden covers an area of 17.73 hectares, and the green coverage rate is 88.41%. Founded in 1953, Chengdu Zoo is a public institution approved by the editorial board of Chengdu. After nearly 50 years of construction and development, more than 30 groups of animal buildings with various shapes have been built. It has become a special park with more than 300 species and more than 3000 animals (heads) of national protected rare and endangered wild animals, including all kinds of mammals, amphibians, birds and ornamental goldfish. It is the largest zoo in Southwest China, ranking fourth among the top ten zoos in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. Chengdu Zoo has been awarded the "global top 500" by the United Nations Environment Program, the "national top 10 zoos" by the Ministry of construction, and the "national excellent popular science education base" by the Chinese society of science and technology.
Panda House
Chengdu Zoo Panda House is located in the center of Chengdu Zoo, with three giant pandas and three red pandas. Covering an area of about 1000 square meters, the museum consists of two outdoor sports grounds, three air-conditioned rooms, an indoor exhibition hall and several operating rooms.
The museum has a long history, with giant pandas on display since its opening. In the process of raising and breeding giant pandas, Chengdu Zoo took the lead in the research on artificial insemination of giant pandas in the 1980s, and made a major breakthrough. Since the 1980s, every year, giant panda cubs have been born.
Penguin Pavilion
Penguin Pavilion is located in the west of Chengdu Zoo. It was built and put into use in 2007. It is also the first penguin Pavilion in the city zoo in Southwest China, covering an area of 121 square meters. The interior is equipped with a small central air conditioner, and the central skylight is equipped with an exhaust fan. In order to ensure the indoor air freshness, an air disinfector is also installed. There is a swimming pool for penguins in the inner room. There are snow mountain murals on the walls around the inner room. The "Shore" is built simulation caves, so that they seem to return to nature. On the right side of the "living room" is another outdoor activity place - another swimming pool. When the outdoor temperature is between 10 ℃ and 18 ℃, they will move there; on the left side of the hall, there is a small indoor swimming pool, which is an isolation room for sick penguins. This is the hotel for Magellan penguins. Five Magellan penguins from Argentina have lived here.
Giraffe house
Giraffe Pavilion is located in the innermost part of the zoo, which is the highest animal hotel. There is a family of three living in the giraffe hotel. My father's name is Haihai. He grew up in Shanghai and moved to the garden in 1993. He is 16 years old. He is more than 6 meters tall and weighs about 1 ton. Her mother's name is Feifei. She was born in South Africa. When she was more than one year old, she immigrated to Chengdu through Shanghai and Chongqing. She is 11 years old and over 5 meters tall. Their daughter, Haifei, was born on January 22, 2008.
Bird Garden
"Hundred birds garden" covers a total area of 2850 square meters. Two visiting roads form an overhead overpass around the column up to 25 meters high, which can be in close contact with birds. There are more than 60 species of songbirds, pheasants, wading birds and waterfowls on display in the park, and hundreds of birds.
More than 3000 trees, shrubs and ground cover plants of more than 40 kinds have been planted in the garden, such as Pueraria lobata, Ficus microcarpa, Ginkgo biloba, Begonia, Chimonanthus praecox, mirabilis jalapa, etc., which has restored the wild habitat environment of birds to the greatest extent.
Goldfish Gallery
Goldfish gallery is one of the earliest exhibition areas in the park. It was built in 1974 and covers an area of about 400 square meters. There is a large fish pond on the front and a slightly smaller fish pond on the opposite side, which is connected by a corridor bridge in the middle. On the side, the gallery goldfish exhibition area is accessed by a passage. At present, there are 27 species of goldfish such as baihutou, bailongjing, dandinghong and huanghutou, and 6 species of tropical fish such as mapfish, alligator and Koi on display.
Mandrill langur Pavilion
Mandrill langur Pavilion, located in the center of the park, was rebuilt and put into use in early 2011.
Mandrills, golden monkeys, green baboons, Arabian baboons and other animals are on display in the mandrill langur Museum. The mandrill population in the park ranks first in domestic zoos.
Antelope Pavilion
The antelope Pavilion is located in the middle of the herbivore area of Chengdu Zoo. It was built and put into use in 2005. It is the first exhibition area in Chengdu Zoo where a variety of animals are mixed and the most species of animals are raised.
At present, there are 5 rock sheep, 1 gazelle, 3 bowhorn antelopes, 1 pair of Indian gazelle, 1 South African Longhorn antelope and 1 white Longhorn antelope.
Golden Monkey Pavilion
Golden Monkey museum is located in the heart of Chengdu Zoo. It was built and put into use in 2007. The museum includes an inner exhibition hall and two outdoor activity fields. The outdoor activity field adopts the bionic design.
Sichuan snub nosed monkey is one of the most beautiful snub nosed monkeys in the park. In the golden monkey Museum, you can often see four playful sub adult golden monkeys. They are a group of three younger sisters led by a brother named Chengcheng. They were all born in Chengdu Zoo. Next door lives another happy family of three, the baby was born on March 20, 2009.
Ape house
The anthropoid Hall of Chengdu Zoo was completed on the eve of the National Day in 2009. The chimpanzee "Darling" and "Baobao", the orangutan "Terry" and "Dabao", the white browed gibbon "Pete" and the white cheeked gibbon "Weiwei" have all moved to their new homes.
Elephant Pavilion
The elephant hall is adjacent to the giraffe hall. There are three outdoor sports grounds, one indoor breeding room and three indoor rooms, which can meet the needs of normal activities of elephants in different seasons.
Xiongshan
Xiongshan is located in the middle of the park. It looks at the mandrill langur Pavilion obliquely. There are five independent sports fields outside. They are breeding and displaying Asian black bear, horse bear, Malay bear, brown bear and polar bear.
Hippo Pavilion
Hippopotamus Pavilion hippopotamus Pavilion is located next to the elephant Pavilion. There are two large pools for outdoor activities and exhibitions of hippopotamus. There is a breeding pool and two small pools in the hippopotamus hall, which can meet the needs of indoor heat preservation and breeding in winter.
Lemur house
The lemur museum is located in the center of Chengdu Zoo. It was built in 2002 and is the first animal like outdoor ecological museum in the park. In the lemur Museum, there are 8 ring tailed lemurs and 21 squirrel monkeys. Every year, 4-6 ring tailed lemurs and 4-7 squirrel monkeys are born.
Leopard house
The leopard pavilion was rebuilt in 2009. Shrubs and other plants were planted in the pavilion to create a wild jungle atmosphere. Climbing trees, stumps and other facilities were added for animals to inhabit and play.
There are four kinds of animals on display in the venue, namely leopard, clouded leopard, black leopard and leopard, with a total of 17 animals. The park has done a lot of work in the breeding of leopard population, with an average of 2-3 animals per year, among which the number of leopard population ranks first in the country.
Amphibious and reptile Museum
The amphibious climbing hall was newly built in 2000. There are more than 44 species of animals on display, including turtles, lizards, snakes and amphibians. Among them, the flower Python has been successfully propagated in this garden, which belongs to the first breeding in Southwest China.
The museum has carried out environmental enrichment, planted grass, shrubs and other green vegetation, and placed branches, stone forest and other objects to simulate the field environment.
Monkey Mountain
The reconstruction of Houshan was completed in 2011. After the reconstruction, the Houshan is divided into two parts: Houshan and houlou.
Monkey mountain shows macaque population; monkey building shows a variety of tropical monkeys. The upper part of monkey building shows white buttock long tailed monkey, big white nose long tailed monkey, black hat hanging monkey, emerald monkey and black leaf monkey, and the lower part shows Tibetan chieftain monkey, dolphin tailed monkey, crab eating monkey, red faced monkey, Japanese monkey and bear monkey.
There are a large number of rockeries, swings, pavilions, fire water bags and other facilities for lively monkeys to play. Monkey house is an indoor venue. Trees and shrubs are planted inside to simulate the natural environment, and fire water bags, triangular stumps, swings and other facilities are made to make it happy.
Daluyuan
Daluyuan, which was rebuilt in situ, was put into use in the autumn of 2013. There are more than 80 white lipped deer, milu deer, water deer, red deer, sika deer and red deer.
Xiaoluyuan
There are more than 83 animals on display, including 7 kinds of animals, such as porpoise deer, Japanese sika deer, takin, muntjac, hairy crested deer, white deer and protocamel. At present, there are 35 deer in the park, which is the largest population in China.
Shihu Garden
At present, Shihu park has four kinds of animals, including Amur tiger, albino Bengal tiger, South China tiger and African lion, with a total of nine.
The Museum covers an area of about 3100 square meters and has built four outdoor animal sports grounds with a total area of more than 1200 square meters. There are rockery, running water, trees and grassland in the stadium. The spacious and comfortable sports ground can meet the sports needs of large animals such as lions and tigers.
Small and medium sized carnivore exhibition area
The small animal house was built and put into use in the Spring Festival of 2014. At present, there are 25 wild protected animals, including 6 species, viburnum, fox, wolf, raccoon, raccoon dog, beaver and golden cat. Each animal has a beautiful playground, including pools, rockeries, trees, cabins, pipes and other facilities for them to play.
